Thanks for the head's up Shpoko. I had the two image numbers reversed by accident; it's fixed now.
Civ4 AI Survivor: Season Three
|
Game One is in the books. Thanks to everyone who was able to turn out today and take part in the Livestream. Special thanks to our own Commodore, who won the prediction contest for the first game with 13 points. Here's a bunch of links as we get ready for Game Two coming up next Friday.

I'm hoping to have a short written report up in the next few days. Thanks again.
You do actually want to fix Gandhi's name; as endearing as TXT_KEY_LEADER_GANDHI may be to some people, it does get in the way "turn order of = alphabetical".
I'd like a way to distinguish between the two Indias. I'd suggest some historical southern India name like Chola or Mysore for the one that's southern on the map. England isn't a problem, since we're already calling southern England "Denmark", which is perfectly appropriate for more than one reason. ... actually, it would help a little to change those in the in-game text tags. That's fairly simple to fix, right? Thanks Sulla!
I'm in favor of TXT_KEY_LEADER_GANDHI myself, since the alphabetical turn order is hand selected anyway. The other ideas sound good for differentiating, though.
Silly question: Why do Churchill, Vicky, and Joao start with 57 points (the same as the Myst civs) while Washington starts with only 51?

At Deity level (which this is), all AIs get The Wheel, Agriculture, Hunting, and Archery for free. If that civ normally gets one or two of those to start, it doesn't get anything else as a replacement. As it happens, all civilizations this game except for America normally start with two of Fishing, Mining, or Mysticism. Washington is the only leader who starts with any of the four free Deity techs, and therefore he starts with one fewer technology than anyone else. Who knew having Agriculture as a starting tech would be so disadvantageous?
Since this game appears on paper to not be destined for fireworks, I'm predicting a nail-biter bloodbath. Here's hoping for a multi-faction religious-alliance continuous world war that leaves everyone using maces at turn 200.

I actually thought they got more free techs, but obviously didn't know what I was talking about. Thanks for the explanation! Quote:Who knew having Agriculture as a starting tech would be so disadvantageous? Heh - and The Wheel too, for that matter. I find it amusing that so many of the most attractive civs and leaders for (BtS) MP are so hapless in these Deity AI Survivor games. |
