My feeling is we need the Gold to keep up in tech more than we we need the FOP from the Wheat/Copper/Sheep city. That said, I haven't spent nearly as much time as you and novice with the sandbox, so I certainly defer to you guys...

You know how much time I spend in the sandbox? rolleye

My intuition says Gold. Especially since we just tipped that to our buddies. And it will have enough food to keep it moving. Then again, Copper is excellent, but perhaps we can grab it with 2nd or 3nd settler?

I've sandboxed a bit but my computer overheats quickly.

What is FOP?

Silly Novice, we all know you can do all that in your head anyway.

Alright here is a rough scetch that would lead ~T70 Pyramids. Cities are far apart and this is true farmer's gambit so there is a fair chance we need to get few military units out that will delay things. I didn't follow this tech path, but I suspect this would be best for this plan:
Pottery - AH - Masonry - Fishing - Hunting (we probably need spears at the latest here) - Writing - Mathematics (might as well try to grab Hanging Gardens too and better chops are very good for us)

Main points are to settle gold city #1 and delay improving Corn while grabbing Pottery + AH. #2 is the Pyramids city. We spare chops and improve the strong tiles. All chops go to Pyramids. #3 is just settled for the stone. There are better spots around, but improving that desert Stone takes a long time so settling on top of it is clearly best. Capital is spamming all those settlers from size 2. Growing to 3 and working flood plains might not delay things much.

#2 could be also a tile closer, but I really would like to get copper on 1st ring. This is totally unoptimized as you can see there is plains cows in T55 picture that should be improved long time ago.

I like the location of your copper city, since it leaves room for a later city 4w of our capital to grab all the grassland.

Btw, not sure how we can get the deer without pissing off Gillette. But maybe we can get the ivory and encourage Gillette to steal Khmer's ivory.

Indeed there would be couple of nice forward cities on their direction, but I guess we would need something also towards TEAM so that they don't grab everything towards us.

btw. diplomatically this means that we should be befriending with TEAM and get a border deal ASAP out. DEal could be favourable to them, but we want it badly. This way we could concentrate our efforts on Gillette border while delaying settling the border near TEAM.

Quickly before I go for the evening - are we possibly up? Someone from Pirates has logged in since Gillette finished, but I can't tell from the timer reset if they played & forgot to tell us or not.
