Stepping back from this, I believe that I feel a sense of enjoyment from just getting to play fun little tactical games. I don't hold any hope for winning this game in some sort of barnstorming death via HA process, but I like the opportunity to work through the little puzzles. Killing Ventessel at some point and then playing in a sandbox seems like a fun way to spend this game. I've not had the pleasure of someone bum rushing me for a couple of years.

Why dont you give chance for some random map where you cant predict every hammer spent on military by your neighbor or move your cap based on common assumption that the most valueable resources are at the choke points?

Heads up I am going to Somerset to see my GFs dad tomorrow morning, won't be back until Monday afternoon (yay three day weekend). I have a laptop, I can log into the game, I hope not to need a pause or anything but, you know, shit happens etc.

I honestly thought we would be playing on an essentially random map, with balanced starts ie with double food resources and plains hill starts. That is what I wanted. I did state to Mardoc that if he wanted to he could use the "tract of land wrapping around a map axis" design in a PM, but I did not state the map or the starts should be mirrored in any way.

It may be that Ventessel isn't planning on bum rushing you. Might just be weak play plus showing an axe to deter you from rushing him.
I'd offer to sub for Saturday but I'm starting my birthday celebrations a bit early this year so I'm going to be out late and foggy tonight and tomorrow.

He hasn't shown me the axe, therefore the idea of visible deterrence can be ruled out. I just walked into it and the Quechua committed seppuku. It's a bum rush.
Happy Birthday! Enjoy the fogginess! Just don't bump into things unintentionally

Hadn't realized it wasn't a showing. So just a really bad rush then. Does he know you've seen it?

Double move by Ventessel? This should be interesting. He can't have moved the axe forward otherwise we need a reload or I reserve the right to double move back...can't check for a few hours....

Gimme gimme moai in between the cow and corn on that little peninsula where the scout was on 49? If ventressel doesn't attack will you go straight to another settler if his power graph stops increasing? Hiw many one pop whips has he done? He must be hitting happy problems soon.
