Opened the turn to this.. Which is kinda low for just trying to buy me out of the war. Not that it matters ( and to test if lurkers are still lurking this game.. ) Question: Would demanding a tech from a peace treaty count towards the tech trading? Did we mention this kinda thing during setup and i just cant find it?

Raskol popped another GA. So Raskol and Cairo are both in one right now. Im likely popping mine next turn, or in 2t. Ive been waiting for this next GP incase i can bulb something before teching like a madman

Ive got basically an indefinite NAP with TBW, and more or less could force one with Raskol. So Cairo and his growing navy/stack is the only worry for me once i capture another city or two from GKC.

ALSO.. Once i get Military tradition from Raskol, and build westpoint in my HE city..... all i need is 1 more GG and i can make commando mounted, and either 2 more GG's or 1 gg and the pentagon ( or something else i think ) and id have commando.... more or less everything. Id say... i could reasonably get commando Cavalry every turn/every 2t in like... 20t or less? But without railroads they arent NEARLY as strong, but a surprise raze or two against someone might not be bad.

I think that tech should count to the limit.

I think you never discussed it in the beginning, but I tend to agree with OH.

If you look to the right of the leader head you will find new values in the Statistics screen:
  • Total beakers researched
  • Total beakers traded away
Seeing that you will play with tech trade limits these values should become handy. Note that all values are base cost values, so the values that OH earlier posted.

My changes to the statistics screen works on the same basis. All techs traded in whatever way possible count towards that.

Going to start taking GKC's island cities to the west, while the rest of the army regroups/heals ect. Also will have cannons/cuirs in 3t, with Rifles not too long after. If i get to rifles, and GKC/Cairo dont join forces... the game should just be called.

But im willing to play it out. My tech rate is absurd and i can see getting to tanks before Cairo gets to rifles, or Raskol/anyone else getting to even Infantry. ATM my only concern is making tech trades and deals and forcing TBW/Raskol to sign a longer NAP with me ( cairo refuses to sign NAP's on principle, which leaves him open as well ) WW is kicking the shit outta my best cities, so ive had to stuff extra units in as HR happy. ive got the Economics great merchant heading towards one of Raskol's biggest cities to give me enough gold to tech RP + Rifles in less than 7t.

Current NAP's that i can recall.. t200 with Raskol, and t210 with TBW. If there is yet another coalition against me, i should still be able to beat it but man will it be ugly. Cairo has a staggering amount of privateers that he keeps shitting out, and my MOAI city is working on much needed happy/other stuff before cranking out 2t privateers. If it looks like Cairo will attack any time soon, i can always swap alot of my coastal cities to privateers from their current catapult production.

Any questions? Ive got pics but im being lazy tonight.

Sounds like frigates might be more important than rifles?

no one else is going to go for Astro, and Krill's stupid Ocean movement speed debuff makes any kind of naval assault rather laughable, imo. Even with the cities Cairo will be picking up, he wont out produce and has no research capability.. so all i really need is just a really good stack/city defender to prevent a 2nd coalition from actually doing damage.

That being said, once i have rifles a quick backfill to Astro to make sure i have sea dominance seems appropriate.

Getting 1700 gold from Gmerchant, 1k gold from Cairo, got military tradition 2t earlier from Raskol so i can start on West Point..

Choices for the next GG/war plans are either:

Settle GG and have Commando mounted units with just Vassalage OR theo..

Hold off on GG and build the military building with it so i can 1t Cavalry outside of a GA, and just swap to Vassalage + Theo to produce commando units...

I think ill likely go with option 1, but if i got 2 GG's.... Perhaps the Fascism great general.......

Ill know more about my possible tech path better once GKC is more or less eliminated. Cairo has no research ability, but will be a decent foe on the battlefield... so i need MG's to deal with him, but Raskol is the one i want to knock out if possible. So, confirm that Cairo can be taken care of, Sign a very long NAP with TBW.... and tech Astro and upgrade a ton of galleys to galleons with Privateer/frigate support and go raze some cities.... Very slowly.

so many decisions. Easiest one right now is to ship excess knights to the big island to start taking GKC's cities there. Consolidate knights/cuirs/rifles/cats/cannons and march on the capital. popcorn

GKC offered me Liberalism for peace this turn.. Ill take peace once i take his island cities so i can focus on rebuilding my military? BEST case scenario is Raskol attacks TBW and they clash and Raskol only slowly eats cities. Worst case is Raskol on t201, attacks me.... Again. Im banking on the former, but i think the latter is more likely because why let Superdeath win, when we can prolong this game till the end of pb56? Its also why im hesitant to send anymore young knights to their deaths on the killing fields of Rome's mainland right now. Im also very scared of Cairo peacing with GKC and another alliance hitting me. Is it likely? No, mainly because Cairo is typically not a big warmonger and we have been trade buddies for awhile. Am i scared to death of losing this despite being in a "concession-level ahead" of everyone? Yeah, diplo games frighten me, but at least it gave me ( and a HUGE thank you to OH ) time to micro ourway into a good position. Part of the reason i havent tried to take the advice from OH since the ending of the TBW/Raskol attack, is that i want to win or lose from that point based on my own skill. If i lose from that position i want it to be a 90/10 combo of My poor reasoning/skill and Diplo.

Ill likely not have Oxford in the capital started before the end of the golden age, but its coming soon. Steel finishes EOT and has to be shipped off to Raskol whom i dearly hope isnt planning on turning his massive Cuir stack my way... Again. So after my GMerchant gets his gold i will conduct a spy mission via knight(s?) to keep a VERY close eye on the movement of that stack. Raskol's stack is game-ending for me imo. Cairo, i can at least beat with Rifles which i will have before the catapults "could" reach my cities.

Am i willing to sit on my land/research advantage and get to Tanks before everyone but Raskol have Infantry? Yep. Question for lurkers: Can tanks take Commando? Or are the last units that can take it, just infantry/cavalry?

I think you can check this in the Civilopedia, but I'm 98% positive that commando tanks are a thing, yes.

Commando tanks... Wonder if Raskol/Cairo will concede by then...

7 more turns of this, and ive got that many turns left on my NAP with Raskol at this moment..

Not a "TON" of military builds because im setting up to crank out Cuir stopping/pike killing Rifles once all my research buildings are done. Also westpoint is getting constructed now while i have the extra production.

Please let this stack hit either Cairo or better... TBW. Dont let it come at me..

I chose not to offer up Steel to Raskol, and see how long it takes for him to request it ( at least while i try and negotiate a extended NAP with him ) If he wont extend the NAP, im alot less likely to continue with the deal. While its likely the Smart move to hit me, if he can convince TBW ( YET AGAIN ) to team up with him. If i see him wheel around to hit me again i feel like id obviously take peace with GKC, and possibly eat anarchy to swap to Slavery depending on the situation. I out tech him by a good chunk now, and outside of a golden age i out produce him as well. Maybe the smarter move IS to hit TBW? Depends on if he can crack whatever city TBW sits in.

Tech wise, given the situation and how my empire is laid out im going Rifles-Railroad. MG's are a straight up bitch to take down in any city, and especially if i crank out a ton and have them soak up all that collateral.

The GKC front. Im taking an island city/cities from him starting next turn, and Cairo should take another one from him this turn. Once i see his knights move south, ill feel alot better. Probably being overly cautious, but since i have overwhelming tech advantage coming soon... figure i might as well build up and wait for the rifles. Especially because i fear going in, taking a hit... and then Raskol seeing his opportunity. As it stands, i can back out of this area and still have a healthy stack to counter an invasion.

Any questions? Anything ive missed?
