Yes, so change the status quo.

This cannot be mistaken for anything that it is not. It shows our impatience with their team and clearly states that we decline their offer of marble. Further, it states that we will make our need for marble known when we need it. They must be aware that we will need marble within the next ~15 turns, per our agreement.

I love this, but I don't think that's the best use of diplomacy. I prefer Ellimist's draft on grounds of diplomatic effectiveness. This gets my vote for most aesthetically pleasing.

Don't assume anything with them. State plainly what we expect of the offer and let them put it out in the open if they disagree. Again, we must speak plainly to CFC lest they twist our words to suit their own purpose.

I don't understand why we would intentionally delay our response once it's ready. Us being prompter in response doesn't concede anything and only reinforces that we have things more together as a team than they do and maintains, however slightly, the higher road. I agree there is no rush to get a message out if we aren't comfortable. But once we have it settled, I don't see any need to wait just to make them wait.

In my opinion the rationale for waiting on delivering the answer is that we'd like them to see us start drafting first. The hope is that they would come back trying to appease us somehow. Whether this will happen we don't know of course.

I'm not suggesting that really. I'm just saying I've seen a few suggestions that we need to halt discussion so we can rush this message out the door. I don't think that's necessary. Even our "slow" responses (like maybe this one) tends to be significantly faster than just about any other team it seems. So if we need to take our time here to get it right, that's perfectly fine IMO.

This is a good point. I concede that we likely will send a message of some sort, though my personal preference is to ignore the trolling message from CFC. That said, please make the message short, direct, and brusque. No flattery or niceties. Just the facts. I'm thinking write it as though it were written by Noble.

Anyway, the turn rolled, and I agreed to the map trade with the Germans.
Reasons?
Our maps are already out there, and the Germans has sent some scouting units into our lands already.
Declining map trade could alarm them, if done without a clear reason.
Possibility to scout the arctic islands more efficiently.
