RBPB4 Lurker Thread

EDIT:

1) plako was moving a unit around WarlordDr's capital and events led plako to DoW, with the first war beginning on T22. WarlordDr offered an immediate peace which plako accepted. Thus far, no workers/settlers have been stolen and no chokes have taken place. As of now, there have not been any instances of combat between units.

2) There has been some in-game chat diplomacy, and the behavior of WarlordDr in that diplomacy is one of the numerous reasons he was subbed.

Thoughts?

GES, I think you can collaborate directly with plako to determine what to reveal regarding prior events. Or plako can summarize for him and perhaps you can simply vouch for authenticity. I would think this would be the fairest way to bring him up to speed on this topic.
Especially since the only things we know at this point do come directly from plako's spoiler thread anyway. Either plako's assessment has been reasonably unbiased up to this point(I feel that it has), or else any bias that exists would also influence anything you would tell WK(since you only know things posted by plako.)

For the record I am not being anti social, I just don't know who, what, when, or why yet and being that you obviously an aggresive neighbor I am not sure what kind of relation we will have in the future, but declaring war on turn 22 is not very kosher if you get my drift. In the multiplayer community these game types are usually played if your neighbor is peaceful, you are peaceful. Rushing someone early is what scared noobs do so these are the experience I have to form my opinions it appears you are my only neighbor so I suppose we have 2 options
1. play nice in out corner of the sandbox or 2. fill our streets with blood
I am thinking you choose #2 based off your previous actions

Warlord: you better not settle another city closer to me
plako: ;-)
Warlord: this is your only warning
plako: I'll think about it
Warlord: suit your self
plako: of course

You missed a large part of Warlord's rant in there I think.

Greece has a warrior north of his settler!yikes I guess that copper city wasn't doomed after all. This is a big deal, I doubt Plako will spend his warrior on 2 v 2.5 odds for that copper city, and my thought that Plako should have waited before declaring would have been a misplay. On the other hand, that warrior can stop WK from hooking up copper for a while, it's going to take WK ~15 worker turns to road to the next city (Thebes?) and Plako's axe will make it to Sparta in ~7 turns or so. In that sense, WK deciding to delete that warrior was a huge mistake, gaining 1gpt or doesn't compare with losing a city! 2 warriors have a good chance of breaking a hill warrior choke, I'd take 3 to be sure. If anything, I'd at least wait until that warrior sitting on my copper is dead before deleting my own troops!

Unit maintenance during a war is irrelevant, unless you're in strike territory. 1gpt is far less critical than getting copper up in an expedient fashion or risking a city loss. Wow, 70% tech at -1gpt to 80% tech at break-even...that's going to be so critical when The Axeman Cometh.

Yeah, every warrior sitting in Sparta means yet another turn the axe needs to wade through to get at the juicy city underneath. Plus, the more warriors, the more lucky hits they will get on the axe, and the greater the odds he'll die against the next one.

Also, does Sparta have a trade connection to the capital? If it does, that will save a good 10 or so worker turns to hook it up to copper. I doubt it though, I'm pretty sure you need all riverside tiles within cultural borders to count as a trade route pre-sailing.

Alright, talked to plako and got the go ahead to post what I am about to post in WK's thread.

It sucks for WK that he's taking over for a 12 year old.
