Yeah, we do need to pay more attention to our Sultan's location on his character page during these wars. Two options:
1) Find a group of 50 troops or so. Put the Sultan in charge of them, and have those troops hide in a corner somewhere. Or, better yet, put that army onto a ship to Cairo. Rather gamey.
2) Just be sure he's never leading troops. If he's leading an army, give it a new leader. Probably requires checking the Sultan's character page a few times whenever we raise troops.

It's easier as a vassal if you're on the council, as your liege will usually assign you to something useful and out of harm's way.

I did get lax with assigning generals but i am almost positive he was not leading when he was injured the first time

I mean, I'm all for fighting on the front lines ... but I'm sensing a pattern here. Perhaps we should lay off the field for a generation or two.

No guts, no glory. To a first approximation, Muslims can't expand via marriage. We just have to keep the Sultan out of the way.

Yes, I was saying that we need to keep the current sultan out of harm's way, and the next sultan, and so forth.

Meaning, through several generations of 'reigning sultans'. I did not intend to mean that we keep the entire family safe from harm.

But yea, we haven't exactly been able to keep the Sultan very safe, have we? xD

So here I'm thinking ... maybe have the sultans focus on Stewardship etc (bookworm type stuff), and keep them as FAR AWAY from the fighting as possible! :D
