Oh damn banghead
Remember he has a confessor right there, so those will all be str7 4move initially. Are you sure he doesn't have hawks?
Drafting and/or a hero, sphener maybe?
Apart from that, um, good luck? lol Boy am I glad he didn't take raiders...

Yeah, I noticed that. frown At least the confessor can't keep up, so he won't be able to re-bless them (assuming of course that they even need it).

I double checked on the hawks - animal handling is still in the "can research" column, which is why he ended up using a regular centaur to scout social media ahead of time (my first tip off). Bad news: he has alteration and adepts with free promos wandering around...gets the centaurs up to move 5 max until they start killing things (he's starting them with no XP)

Turn 91

Well, it could have been worse.
Actually managed to kill two CA's and red-line a third on defense. All but 2 of his units lost bless, and the confessor can't quite reach them in order to re-bless (unless they meet him partway).

I couldn't get enough bodies into Quick wins though, so it's toast. If he does that though, I might have enough moroi to attack and wipe out his forces. EOT I've got 12 moroi who can easily hit quick wins location next turn (he has 5 healthy or mostly healthy centaurs of various types + Valin).
Unfortunately, TBS decided to open up a 2nd front.
The galley has cargo space for 5(!) and I could only get 4 bodies into On-shoring. Hoping it's filled with swordsmen (saw a stack of those near Avelorn last turn), which would force him to attack amphibiously. Centaurs could sprint after landing without that penalty.

The barb pile-on is just cruel.

Murphy's law, right? I've been hoping it would spit out the stack for at least 30 turns now, and they choose the absolute worse time to do it.

No turn yet (Don't people realize I'm in the middle of a war!?!? I wants to see!), but I did get a peace proposal from TBS. I've been working the diplo channel with him every turn, so lets see what he had for me...
The Black Sword Wrote:Ok, I've been thinking this over, I'd be willing to accept peace along these lines:

Continuous NAP with 5t cooldown. This means
-no war declarations
-no aggression with hidden nationality units
-no aid to third parties at war or intending war with the signatories of this agreement
-right of first strike to whoever does not deactivate the agreement.

In addition:
-I had plans for a settlement near On Shoring and Proactive, where the dungeon was. You won't compete for this spot. I assume your culture will take over the clams here, in which case you gift them to me.

-A ten turn mana loan

-Your world map

I don't see the need to include peace with Yell0w in this deal. As you say, he can use his worldspell if he feels it necessary, it was the combination of factors that led me to declare. Full disclosure: you'll see that the city of Quick Wins has also been razed.

I hope your vampires don't feel too vengeful in the future!

TBS.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand, the terms really aren't all that onerous and the NAP is super short (double edged sword? even if he comes back in 6 turns, I'll be much, much stronger then). It would be really nice to have peace for a little bit to resettle the lost cities, refill my coffers a bit (i.e. pillage Yell0w), and build command posts/the epics. On the other hand, I'll finish feudalism next turn and should already have close to enough moroi to clear my land.

I don't mind the settlement on the isthmus since my culture should still control the mana. Nor is giving him my map a big deal. With hawks and floating eyes readily available, map knowledge is cheap to come by. If I do go for it though, I'm thinking of pushing back on the mana trade (since he did just raze Quick Wins...regardless of the immediate future, I have the feeling my vamps won't forget that).

What do you think Q? Obviously it depends a lot on the situation in-game. If Valin's hanging out in easy striking distance of a dozen moroi, well... I might just have to respond with a "full disclosure" of my own.

I also think the situation depends a lot on what is found in game, both from the fact that he's clearly reached as far as he thinks he can reach and wants to escape with his army and that we don't want him using this as an opportunity to butcher the rest. Tbh though, I think we do want a peace like this eventually. If we can easily hold out against him and get a peace without concessions (its the mana that concerns me, considering that is -1-2str from spectres - it seems to me he would easily be able to control the western mana if he just got some culture (religion and/or temple) in there. That settlement is also a bit worrisome in general, but that's too long term can matter) I think it would be worth it. We don't want to be a martyr to slowing him down though...
Oh and make sure you have very specific terms on that mana loan. Depending on how its read, he could turn that into a extra term of peace.

Ok, countered his offer, removing the mana loan and requiring that he not place any settlements preventing me from resettling the two razed cities in the next 10 turns. He had a small stack of CAs on defensive terrain at the very edge of my reach, but it would have required burning blood, and I didn't want to waste like 6-7 moroi just for the satisfaction of killing 4 CAs. I did shift units around to make it possible to hit them without burning blood in case he doesn't go for the peace deal.

Most importantly, feudalism came in EOT, and there's enough gold in the bank to upgrade a vampire right off the bat.

The Black Sword Wrote:Hi jalapeno,

That is all acceptable to me. I offered peace in game, please offer the map on your turn.

TBS.
Essentially, I just got a cessation of hostilities for at least 6 turns, and will have at least 5 turns warning should TBS come after me again. In return, I had to give TBS the same, my map, allow a settlement, and gift clam if my culture takes it from his settlement. So I'm pretty happy with this (whoever TBS visits next probably won't be).

Losses: 2 cities (both with GMs), 18 population, 2 BPs, 1 moroi, 1 hawk, 2 workers, and a couple turns of sub-optimal unit pumping.
