I'd dedlurk and give earnest advice, but I think my time with wetbandit and ipecac still gives me spoiler knowledge so for now I content myself with hooting and hollering.

I hope to fulfill that request.
In the meantime, I've dotmapped the land across the ocean: There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to grab all of these locations. That's 11 more cities and would bring me to 20. Some of those spots may be better moved around a little -- and while it's tempting to settle a channel city early like chumchu did, there is only 1 spot I can settle to do that and it isn't a very good city location (tile between the cow and horse, 2N of A). Any changes you would make? Right now I can get settlers to 'A' and 'B' both to found cities on t95. If I go HBR instead of Writing, I wouldn't build these settlers at all - I'd build barracks and units instead.

Okay, we are absolutely not attacking StarDoor right now. Map trade went through and the geopolitics vote has veto power:
So our hub has #1, #3, and #4 on the scoreboard. Kind of hard to fear a Nyles attack (barring us letting our power get absurdly low). EDIT: Of course, OT4E could be gearing up to attack one of our neighbors right now as well That's like #1, #2, #4, and ~#8 in power on our hub

Turn 086
Shit, I just lost my report. To sum things up, I'm pretty convinced OT4E is going to attack StarDoor next. I think he's playing a mfg-heavy game. He isn't expanding for luxuries, he's in Police State, and his MFG is through the roof. His thread title makes me think he wants to try something different, and different for here is early aggression and lots of it -- something i tried to do in PB18 but he's actually doing it right. So what are our options? If we tech HBR now then we get horchers online in about 15 turns (9 turns to tech, 6 turns to build and move the units to the southern border) and we can probably get something like 8-10 horchers for that if we push the production phase with whips. That would be enough to take StarDoor's eastern cities easily. But then OT4E has either already attacked StarDoor in that time, or once we attack StarDoor he definitely does attack and where we're picking up the small eastern cities he has direct access to the juicy core ones. If we tech Writing now then we're not ready when OT4E attacks StarDoor. But then again, we don't really need much to take StarDoor's eastern cities, because they won't be all that developed or large, and all the units will have will be in the west dealing with OT4E. Meanwhile our goal here really isn't HBR as much as it is Construction, because we need are going to need catapults to combat OT4E's insane MFG when he does get through StarDoor. (To be fair, we are likely last one on our hub to die, unless Nyles attacks and makes us a good target.) So! We need to get to Construction and HBR, and get a tech up on the big bad OT4E, we want both our neighbors to be a buffer as long as possible, and for both those reasons I'm not going to attack either of them any time soon and I'm going to rush out as many libraries as I can.

I forgot to mention events last turn: He gets a Great Scientist before we get Writing And I'm really trying to cue StarDoor in to what's about to happen to him: #1 in GNP! Yeah, sure, we have to tech a 2-pre-req tech that everybody else already has but ignore that and enjoy the moment with me

Turn 089
Fuck Trump, I'm voting for chumchu I chumchu! This means I don't have to research Alphabet myself. Commodore had me mulling the possibility of bulbing Alphabet and using the double pre-req bonus plus open borders to get Currency faster. Now that I already have open borders I'm not sure that's as competitive an option. We're gearing up for the next wave of settlers The settler out of Orandrad is going to be a little farther out; that is my top commerce city and I'm chopping + whipping a library there ASAP. We'll slow build that settler when the city gets up against the happiness cap again. Right now Library cities are going to be Gont, Orandrad, Andrad (after the settler), Kameber, and Torheven. Atuan is swapping to Moai this turn to eat up a chop - but still needs to get out it's archer before it starts on the national wonder in earnest. (EDIT: This is stupid; that means the chop is literally worthless for like 30 turns. So I went back in game and swapped it to a lighthouse that we'll whip out instead. Actually, Atuan would make a great city for running scientist specialists...) Also, that's 50 pop right there folks Decided that the worst thing to happen would be an attack from Nyles, so I offered NylesStandish the same deal I've offered StarDoor: Copper for Copper. It means "Hey, watch out for that big orange menace! (So I can out-build you in peace.)" I also offered him a map trade as he finished Writing at end of turn. Get Writing myself at end of this turn.
