It is possible if you whip during pause and logout without unpausing.

Thank you!
Okay, that makes sense; I hadn't seen that before.

Turn 59 (1640 BC) - Part 2
I'm going to run down the current military plan to make sure I'm not committing some dumb MP act.
Our current core is:
I have: - 1 warrior in Castleview, and can whip either an axe or a spear for 1 pop now
- 1 warrior and 1 axe in Castle Ironfist (needs garrison for happiness)
- 1 warrior in Harmondale, with a spear due next turn (needs garrison for happiness starting next turn)
Potential problems: - Gavagai is showing nothing on the border (he already played this turn and did not whip anything), but can threaten Castleview at any time simply by moving a unit into view. He had (I think) 1 axe and 1 spear before, and built 1 archer last turn.
- Barbs have a warrior (at 0.2 health, should be trivial to kill) on the hill between Castle Ironfist and Castleview
- I need at least one unit to cover yellow dot
- Coeurva has a warrior fortified outside Sorpigal's BFC, just south of this screen shot
My plan is this: - Move the axe just produced in Castle Ironfist south, to deal with any potential problems from Coeurva; I need to eventually chase that warrior away so I can develop Sorpigal's tiles in peace
- Kill the barbarian warrior with the warrior fortified in Castleview; this warrior can then cover yellow dot
- Whip an axe in Castleview, because it will be unguarded
- Move the spear to be produced in Harmondale next turn to Castleview; it will arrive on t64
The main problem with this is that there is a 4-turn window where Gavagai can force me to also whip a spear in Castleview if he shows up with a chariot. My read on Gavagai is that he's only had Animal Husbandry for 5 turns, so he won't show up with a chariot just now, but he might in a few more turns.
That might well be a bigger problem than Gavagai showing an axe on the border, because I'll have another turn to whip an axe if he moves into my territory with a single axe. What do you think? If I do whip a spear in Castleview instead, I'm not sure where to move the second spear that Harmondale is about to finish.

Actually, hmm. Maybe I can avoid whipping the axe/spear in Castleview and instead push the already existing axe north. In Harmondale: next turn I can produce the spear and grow to size 4; it can start an axe and whip it on t62 as it grows to size 5. I'll have the silver connected on that turn, so it can tolerate the double whip unhappiness.
This has the benefit of shifting the whip burden from Castleview to Harmondale.
This will leave Castleview unguarded for a few turns, however! Gavagai will definitely see that. Is that a problem? I can still whip a unit there on demand, but I don't know if presenting a target like that is a good idea.

Turn 59 (1640 BC) - Part 3
I continue to move both our scouting units; current status of cirumnavigation watch is:
Gem is taking several turns to actually uncover new tiles on the X-axis. She can't turn around now because Sandro can always die 2 turns from the current turn. Also, I'm not certain there's actually enough land in the direction Sandro is going -- there's that narrow strip of land north of Sandro.
I'm going to stop here for a while; I'm busy with other stuff and I'm going to think about our best military moves and await your input.

Gavagai built an archer?
Meanwhile, I'm logging in.

He shows a 3000 soldier increase on the power graph, and the population point he gained last turn was odd-numbered so that 3000 can't include 1000 from population.

Is there some reason why you're roading the floodplains? And Bilba shouldnt' be roading, but pre-chopping.
I would pull back the spear from Harmondale E-NE, so that it can cover Sorpigal in 2t. Kill the warrior with Castleview's warrior, and whipping a spear there looks good.
And working a 1f2h over a grass pigs is almost sacrilege. You should just work the pigs, whip the spear this turn and overflow into worker. You have 5 settlers for 4 cities, the rule of thumb is roughly 1.5 per city and you need to prepare the ground for the next settler.

Count again, at least with regard to 'immediately-improvable'.
Also, wasn't supposed to be his capital, was supposed to be a contestable borderland. I'm hoping the settling delay and other features of his capital prevent it from working out for him. I probably should have taken the possibility of:
