RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Pacal II of Greece! (Jowy & Yazilliclick)

It's going to be terrible from now on, the game was unpaused at the worst possible time so that I probably can't play most of my turns during this war. Maybe we can try to move it back to the original timing. Thx for playing.

Plan is to build a second stack to keep India busy. Need phalanxes and some chariots now for that, got enough spears. On my front I'm just playing time for two things 1) Rome will land 2) We tech construction and can go for the heavily fortified cities. Anyway that stack achieved it's goal of destroying the horses, and even destroyed many of their units on the way. I would have preferred to have more units alive though, now they might get a chance to reconnect the horses.

I'm glad you guys took it so graciously.

I hope they do the temp pause to realign the timeframes.

PS. Also, what is your avatar?

If I'm not mistaken, it's Jowy from the end of Suikoden II? A classic strategy/RPG. It was on playstation, I think?

Almost true! Right game, wrong guy! He's Luca Blight, one of the most memorable villains of all time. Had there been no Final Fantasy saga created, then Luca Blight would probably be the equivalent of Sephiroth smile Too bad Suikoden was overshadowed by Final Fantasy series and never got the spotlight it deserved.

Furthermore some game news. Sullla and Speaker really pissed me off with this newest message of theirs. It's really cutting the boundaries of this game in my opinion. Teams, friendships and so on outside the game shouldn't be used as an argument in diplomacy.. Personally I treat RPB2 as a game, and there is a world inside the game and a world outside the game. That's another reason for my sneaky diplomacy here.. It's just all part of the game. But trying to gain advantage by stuff happening outside the game is just pathetic. Are these really the heroes you're rooting for, using any means necessary to gain an advantage? Should I fear of getting DDOS'ed soon? lol Not very heroic if I say so myself! Not that THEY ever claimed to be heroic, anyway.

Here's my reassurance letter to CoW members after someone brought up India's attempt to drive a wedge between CoW members.

Quote:[COLOR="PaleGreen"]Greetings CoW,

Everything is still going according to the plan smile When the game was unpaused we suffered an attack by India's main stack (their only stack). I haven't talked to Ottomans yet, but personally I won 3 battles (3 HA's) and lost 8 (mostly Phalanx). Earlier I lost 4 more units (phalanx) and beat 3 (2 ha's, 1 axe). So for me it's 6 units killed, 12 lost, though their HA's were of course more expensive than my units. For Ottomans it's probably around 50:50. We've still got some troops around, we should join them up with Dantski's. We've accomplished our goal of disconnecting their horses, pillaging all tiles on our way and even destroying their troops at a good rate.

I'm already building another stack, got around 8 units ready so far, while at the same time I'm teching towards construction. I'd like to hear word on your second stacks too, I'd assume atleast HRE's and Ottoman's are in production since they had to hurry for the T100 attack and didn't have time to bring more units at the beginning. Once we have catapults, we can deal the finishing blow on them.

So far we've accomplished our goals, atleast in my opinion. We've already put ourselves in a better position to win this game: India has suffered. Their cities are heavily whipped and will be suffering for many turns to come. Their cottages have been pillaged and their resources disconnected. A city was razed, and with Rome's landing another one. They've been forced to defensive mode, fighting for their life, no longer just expotentially running away with the game and getting closer and closer to inevitable victory. They are strong, I give it to them. But I think their approach in convincing Dantski (and probably others too) hasn't really been good.. Is it really a good reason to stop fighting them because they're doing so well against many of us (which I think we all predicted and that is why we are doing this!)? Stopping now is same as giving up this game and letting them win.
Don't let our losses near Chancelorsville let you down. They have pretty much all their troops focused over there, only alot of whipped archers in Gettysburg and random units in other cities. I'm rejoining the battle with a second stack, hopefully one reinforced by Ottomans again. Rome will land with his 8 (or was 12 the final number?) praets, Dantski's and HRE's stacks are still 100%... We're not in trouble. India is definately trying to shake up our ranks because they know they're doomed if we continue like this. India's messages can be very convincing, they're definately more outspoken than I am, but I'm actually honest and sincere with each one of you. I doubt India are, unless they actually tell you that they're just using you to get out of this corner and then destroy you for putting them into that corner.

To victory, friends!

Of course, my sincerity can be debated. I admit that attacking Mali after this all is over had been an option in my plans earlier on, mainly because we don't really talk much and Mali mentioned that they weren't sure should we continue working together after this war. Atm I doubt I'll war for a while after India war. I'll just build up my empire for a while and watch what everyone else starts doing. If I did war, the natural targets would be Mali and Korea. Korea I'd like to keep in this game longer, he makes a nice bumper between myself and Rome. Just in case.

Anyway, overall, I've been very sincere and honest with my allies. For real. Hopefully they can sense that through my sloppy english!

Apparently Speaker thinks he's Jesus because he's been in RB for 7 years. I don't agree, I think he's as much able to act in bad faith as any of us. Personally I think that asking Athlete to leave the war is acting in bad faith, especially when with little flexibility from India's part we could keep playing normally and it has no downsides. Except that it's against the rules, and apparently it's OK to change the rules twice in a big manner, but not to be a little flexible in a small detail. Also as I explained in my earlier post here in my spoiler thread, using our RPB3 team up as a diplomatic leverage is also acting in bad faith. I can't even reveal that to them or they'll know I know about it.

Still thinking what to answer in the IT thread. These politics are really a shame because the actual game has been so much fun. Sullla and Speaker are clearly holding a grudge because of my war declaration. Geez sorry for putting up a fight and not letting you get an easy win! Remember my earlier post about rational/emotional players? I was so wrong about Sullla and Speaker.

I should probably watch out for naval attack from the north. Whosit thinks that Plako will attack him T150, but it could be me and earlier. Plako saying that I'm "holding up the game" makes me more worried he might be aligned with Sullla.

We were planning to capture Fredericksburg soon and then let me have it, but I'm considering declining that since it won't be easy to defend.

As for CoW overall, I'm only worried that they might stop sending troops which will give India some time to recover. Even if they pull out and India destroys me, I can leave this game happy and satisfied that I tried everything I could to win, instead of being a little footnote on India's way to victory. If CoW fails, I think India will probably win a cultural victory, unless we pillage it enough giving Whosit or Athlete a big enough edge in technology to not lose it.

Hey Jowy, I logged in as athelete needed some info to figure out next move and got prompt from Athens finishing archer. I set it to build a phalanx but just a heads up in case you had something else in mind.

Don't start an other argument please. If you can only play at a fixed time in day and you need to run the clock down, just don't end the turn. As Athlete mentioned, there is no rule to end the turn. Just post a message in IT thread saying you are done with your turn.

Jowy Wrote:It'd obviously a broken rule if the later half can end the turn and thus manipulate when the first half begins. Krill's new ruleset was trying balance both halves so I assumed we already had it this way in the rules. We'll change the rules again to include this if it's not already in there.

Speaker pulling another trick up their sleeve, even more act in bad faith. Now that they know I can't play during a certain time period, they've started to end the turn early so that it'll be harder for me to play. Any lurker comments on this and rest of the dirty non-gameplay tricks? I was shocked myself when that mature image I had of them shattered.
