RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

Shoot the Moon Wrote:Are you finding that Krill comes off angry in his emails on the border subject so far? I can't tell if it is just how he is coming off or if he actually is that upset about it...).

Yes to this. Same thing with his Technology Trading e-mail from today.

Quote:I think it would also be good to point out that our email was not meant to be a final agreement, but just a starting point, but to also point out that we need to know where we are sending our settler by next turn, and that was why we wanted to get moving towards a formal agreement soonish

I will send him an e-mail letting him know that we were putting a starting point out there because we now see the urgency of getting a settling agreement in place. I don't think there's a need to tell him we don't know where to send our settler next turn, as he's already pushed the urgency topic with us and pushing it back should be enough.

Do we change our tone in e-mails and diplomacy to match his?

I don't think so, at least not until two turns from now lol

lol Good point. smile There's a reason I chose the name Mr. Nice Guy. I'm a nice guy, but I'm not soft. nono So I'm happy to keep the tone we have used and only make our point when needed. And besides, I'd rather save the "not so nice now" speech for the first team to declare on us.

I am also okay with 3 workers, the third "at a later date" or "not to come after Turn X" or something to that effect. 4 workers... that's getting plain old greedy. Counter-offer is the original offer of 2, second TK from Lakewood?

Perhaps counter offer is asking him to name a number? We could indicate that we find multiple workers acceptable, but not immediately, and ask him how many he had in mind.

So....

Quote:---Diplomatic Blah blah blah----

After discussing amongst ourselves, we do find multiple workers to be an acceptable sacrifice for the sheep spot in question. What number, and what kind of timeline do you have in mind?

-Diplomatic blah blah

In the blah blah section I would bring up our not intending our proposal to be "the" agreement, but a proposal. Also will mention how we see the urgency in the situation and maybe even discuss the diplomatic state of the world.

Perhaps instead of the word "multiple" say "more than one" -- I feel like multiple will cause him to shoot way too high. Other than that, looks perfect.

What do you think?

Quote:Krill,

Please accept our apologies if we appeared rash in our original proposal for a border treaty. Our proposal was nothing more than that: a proposal, intended to get the framework ready for a final and mutually agreeable pact between our great empires.

After discussing amongst ourselves, we do find more than one worker an acceptable sacrifice for the sheep spot in question. What number, and what kind of timeline do you have in mind?

Was the rest of the pact agreeable to you?

I would be happy to meet you for a Gmail chat some time tomorrow to further define where we stand. I understand that you have a lot on your plate IRL tomorrow, but if there is a time that works for you I will do what I can to be accommodating.

Until Later,

Mr. Nice Guy for Team Nice Shot

Sounds great.

Just so you know, I should be available tommorow from 3:30 onward.

Awesome. I will send.

Also will send a note to England giving directions to A4. They should be able to meet in about three turn's time.

I have the next two days off, so will be available in short patches all day both days with my usual evening time to focus on gamey stuff. And thank goodness for no 4 AM shifts this week smile I love getting stuff done at work and the afternoons at home are nice, but nothing compares to sleeping.

Quote:Three workers gifted to me by the turn before Maths is researched (and with movement points remaining so they can reach forests that turn). If you think that is a lot of workers, I can give you MM to build 2 workers asap out of Lakview; building for 2 turns using 2*cottage or lake, rive, gold = 18 hammers invested, slave for 2 pop and work rice?gold, end of turn make worker, overflow 42 hammers into a second worker which finishes in 2 turns. It has a granary and can regrow on the cottages pretty quick. Ultimately, I don't think that is an unduly high cost, considering the ease with which they can be replaced, and that, settler depending, you can immediately hook up the sheep and horse and road most of the way to my borders (and if you do that, I can finish the road the rest you can get trade routes with me). The rest of the pact seems OK, but I'm still not sure on where I can settle for that corn. Perhaps W SW of the corn, as that would let me settle for furs which otherwise aren't plantable?

I should be available for a chat in about 11 hours if you want, Maybe in 10 and a half, I'm not sure when I'm going to be back from work tonight.

Krill

In chat now. I will accept three, but propose a staggered gifting timeline... goal is to be around one every ten turns. I think that should be fair for him but also not a bad deal for us.
