Huh, did he just rename his cities this turn, or have they been that way all along? His units are named for the Black Company, but those cities are definitely Enya.

I did accept, and the cities have been renamed for a while now (he didn't rename the cap, which I find to be a nice gesture)

I'm at the ER for (probably) a spider bite that got my whole ankle red and swollen. I should be out soon but there's a small chance that they'll keep me long enough that I can't play the turn. I'll know more in an hour.

I'll be able to play

A mysterious hooded figure appears, and speaks in an old, deep voice. "The wind of change. It cannot be stopped. Twice the turn will change before it comes."

The nobles take no notice of the man as he tells the prophecy, too busy feasting behind their walls, feeling safe.

The man disappears in the mist, never to be seen again.

I think it's time to explain what has been my goal for the past 20 turns.

I wanted revenge at Mr Cairo for invading us. But he has a large army in our former territory, and he would have a turn of warning if I approached the cap with our stack. For a while I had city visibility on all our former possessions so I knew exactly what he had. Needless to say we'd have a hard time attacking his troops if they were all behind walls on a hill (ex : in our former capital). So I needed Engineering to make it a surprise attack (also Cairo doesn't have research visibility on us thanks to all the EPs that I put on him earlier). Here's the situation :

Cairo had a sword stack nearby that is very likely to be in range to hit back. I'm not sure what the best choice is regarding razing or keeping the city, because I'm not sure how the culture will change once we take it. It has 85% of our culture, so will it instantly pop back to our former frontiers ? If so keeping it is the solution. If not we'll be vulnerable to a counterattack so I'll probably raze.

Edit : this turn Gawdzak met us, which is good news (he's Cairo SWern neighbor). He offered copper+iron+whale for OB (ie : he supports us). Next turn he'll see us attacking Cairo and maybe he'll help some more.

Edit edit : some bad news as I logged back in to check some stuff. Gawdzak is at war with BGN somewhere and has a fish for fish deal with Cairo, so probably no help will come from there. Also Cairo has paper so if he checks our tech next turn he'll see we have engineering and may react to that.

Cairo retreated.

His combined stack could do some damage though.

Note the worker used as bait. Not sure what he expected here, I'm not going to move my stack in range of his (and away from the 100% defense of Blanquette)

Also I razed the island city this turn. It was 85% his culture so I had to go through 5 turns of uselesness before it became a quasi useless city with just a workshop to use (he controls the sea)
