Well I'm sending him with the chariot to hunt down Mackoti's chariot. If he's smart he'll disband his chariot to deny me the experience, but maybe I'll get lucky and he won't.

Here's an interesting quirk of vultures I've discovered. Let's say that Mackoti attacks me with a stack of Horse Archers and axemen. If they both have combat 1, and my vulture is combat 1 or unpromoted, the axe defends. But, if his horse archer or my vulture has shock, the horse archer defends. the HA also defends if both his units have shock. That's actually really bad for me in this situation. I'd much rather have the axes defend, so that my spears could attack his horse archers. At least with vultures, I can force him to get level 3 HAs- regular axes wouldn't work nearly as well.
edit: i guess that's all moot anyway. I can weaken his HAs with chariots so that axes will defend, but then his catapults will defend against my spears anyway, and probably win, unless I make a whole lot of spears. It's easier to just spam mass vultures.

Mackoti has finally moved up his galley

from there it can see, and land on, all the tiles next to the city. I decided to keep my vulture and spear (fortified) in the city, and put my chariots and other spear to block the hills. If he lands on the grassland, that's ok, I'll eventually clean it up. No matter what he has on the galley, I don't think there's any significant chance of taking the city.
axe: 5.5 vs. 9.45 vulture
spear: lol vs vulture
Horse archer: 6.6 vs. 12.4 spear
chariot: lol vs spear
I've also pulled back the CR2 vulture and chariot that were hunting down Mackoti's chariot in the SE. This seems like a better opportunity for getting 1 more experience point on Debaser.
Of course, this could still be just a bluff to distract me from the north. But I've got 10 vultures, 4 spears, and 2 chariots up there now, and more coming all the time.
Despite that, plako passed me in power this turn. I hope WarriorKnight knows what he's doing...

meh, I'm gonna change it. That's legal, since Mackoti hasn't logged in yet, right?

I really don't understand Mackoti's strategy at all, right now. I offered him peace, and he didn't say anything. Fair enough, I can understand why he'd want to keep fighting. But... he's not really fighting either. He's still got his 4 core cities, and I've been really skimping on unit production lately, so I would have expected him to produce a lot more units than he has right now (his power is still well below mine, and a lot of his is just the construction, HBR, and archery techs). So what on earth is he doing? It seems like he's not fully comitting to either economy or warfare, which is probably the worst thing he could do right now. In the long term, I'll easily outtech and outbuild him.

heh, guess I spoke too soon. Somehow I didn't see this army at all last turn. How is that possible?

So, looking back, last time you had 6 vultures, 4 spears and 4 chariots. What have you got this time?

I hate to admit it, but I just don't have enough units to fight him right now. I have 10 vultures, 4 spears, and 2 chariots- not nearly enough. My plan is to withdraw down to peacemonger, let him take that city too, and then counter attack as soon as he enters the city. Hopefully he'll enter with his full army. On that turn, I think that I'll have 16 vultures, 4 spears, and 8 chariots ready to attack, plus 3 vultures and 2 spears in the north to cut off his reinforcements and retreat.
