Welcome to Realms Beyond Civilization!

Wow, everyone, thanks for the responses!

I'd actually come to the same conclusion regarding replaying old adventures/epics myself -- I'm glad to hear it's not such a crazy idea as I'd feared it might be. And thank you for all the other suggestions as well!

Have you *read* the various variant restrictions on the Epics mischief? We're all about crazy ideas!

Anyway, glad to have you here!

lol I did notice some of the wackiness y'all get up to. I don't think I'm quite ready for that, but it should be fun down the line!

Anyway, I've begun my stab at Epic One (because the best place to begin is the beginning), and have posted a thread for it over in Tournament Reports. Will keep it going, though it would help if I could figure out a picture hosting solution that was a little less laborious.

Dropbox is about as easy as it gets for hosting pictures, though different people have other preferences.

For my typical reports:

[Dropbox installed]

ALT-PRTSCRN at pertinent moments

[Finish Playing]

Move all the pictures to a subfolder in my Public Dropbox folder

Use Bulk Image Converter to change them all to jpegs (mine save as 1meg png's for some reason)

Rename all as [a number][a name], e.g. 200Overview. The number helps sort them by session (more relevent in PBEM/SG than Tournaments, but still). Note that this is multiple screenshots bearing the same name, so you'll end up with a bunch with names like 200Overview (1) and 200Overview (16)

Copy Public Link, paste into a blank post box.

Wrap [screenshot ] [/ screenshot] tags around it, copy with wrap.

Paste as many times as I have screenshots with the same name.

Write report, renaming them as I go along to fit the proper narrative.

Long and possibly not applicable, but it's the sort of breakdown I would have appreciated when I started, as a lot of it is non-intuitive.

If you've been playing for a while, I suggest skipping some of the early games, as they're not aimed at someone used to the game as you. Potluck, for instance, is much less interesting if you've played all the civs before.

Hi!

I have been lurking this forum on and off for since roughly a year ago, when I started playing Civ IV seriously. I got into Civ IV when I got bored with playing Civ V for the fastest victory times. I missed Civ IV when it came out as I mostly play (and design) boardgames where I have an extremely competitive group of players who like heavy multiplayer games =). My favourite games are Through the Ages, Paths of Glory, Britannia, Advanced Civilization and Mahjong. I would either need to lurk a bit more or maybe team up with someone more experienced before jumping into a game.
