My response. I will probably send another message offering a 30 turn NAP with 10 turn renewal if he withdraws. Although if he builds up for war he wont be teching nearly as well which is good for us. Just need to hold out for 3 turn to swap to slavery then churn out troops.

Quote:I had hoped you wouldnt choose that option but it will only delay me 1 turn. I have sufficient forces in the area to take and hold the location and more on the way. As I said before I did not intend to move further north but if it is war you choose I may re assess my options.

Kodi's response. Not getting the back stab reference but I must be dense.

Quote:You forced us to make that option, and it wasn't an easy choice to make. I am not the aggressor, I am simply make a point. Should you attack, you will become the aggressor. I will never attack you until you attack us, and you've already cut a deep hole into our back. I hope you're happy with the decision you have made. You can still make things right.

I would be willing to sign a NAP with them if they withdraw just trying to figure out the length and when to send the message. Probably after I advance the HA's. Worse case is a 1 turn delay if he stays.

So what do you guys think 30 turn nap with 10 turn renewal?

Here is a picture. 8 HAs behind settler group. Settler group consists of HA, settler and G2 LB, behind main stack is 2 workers (roading slower than I would like should have brought 4 live and learn) HA and a spy.

I sent this to give him an out. Probably wont do any good and unfortunatly will probably irritate him further but I was a soft as I could be.

Quote:I am sorry you see it that way but I do intend to settle that location and have no intention of moving further north. If you withdraw your axe I will sign a NAP with you. I am thinking 30 turns with a 10 turn cooling off period and 10 turn renewals. Terms are of course negotiable and I will take into account your considerable good will by withdrawing to try an accomodate your reasonable requests.

I do not break actual agreements so you can feel safe with a NAP in place. Up until this point we have had no agreements just pleasant chats which I have enjoyed. You are however part of an alliance that is activly trying to destroy mine so conflict is not unexpected.

If you do not witdraw I will remove the Axe from the hill and settle the site anyway. I did plan for this eventuality while it is not ideal it was expected. If you want to wait till I move my troops forward I will understand you want to actually see that I am not bluffing but I would want him withdrawn next turn (this turn depending on when you recieve this) so I can move forward.

I would prefer both of us to move on with our expansion plans but will understand completly if you cannot agree to this settlement. Unfortunatly I cannot come up with a good reason not to settle the site. I have expended resources and it is in my Civs best long term interest.

I trust after this conflict we can continue to have pleasant conversations.

Anyway let me know if this is agreeable or are we going to actually fight.

Kodi's response. No comment on the other points. Apparently I was supposed to sit idly by and watch them tech away and seal off my territory while helping people attacking my allies just because they said they want peace.

He should have expected conflict or stayed neutral.

I am sorry that you believed that our conflict was inevitable. We didn't.

My response just to be clear he is choosing war.

I am going to just ramble some confusion and frustration.

I am surprised that Kodi is so surprised and hurt by the settlement of this site or that I have moved troops to the front.

He knew I built an army to combat Krill. He knew I have a very close relationship with the lins and a fixed stable border.

He knew Krill signed a very long NAP making the northern armies just expensive toys to have around.

He should have expected the armies to move his way as the only border we have with the other alliance within reasonable distance.

I would have thought they would seal off my territory from them and defend it long before I had the chance.

Now I am accused of backstabing by doing exactly what they should have.

Ok rant over smile

Since you didn't have any formal settling agreements in place, I don't think you've done anything wrong. I'm a bit surprised myself that Kodii seems to be feeling hurt over this, especially since you've offered a Non-Aggression Pact. I think I've said the following before:

That makes me feel better and I read that demo game and was around for the great strike on Imperio. That was fun smile

Anyway I moved my HA's up to show I am not bluffing there are 9 on the tile one is wounded but they all have 2 promo's.

I figure combat 1 shock HA's I will lose 2 to 3 to kill the axe and then the settler group can move forward.

After paper I am going to go cash and borrow some from lins and sunrise to upgrade remaining HA's to knights.

Also first landsknecht is on its way and the 2nd lb moved forward. I have 2 more landsknechts and a carvel in production and 2 elephants on the way.

Next up a couple xbows to round out the defenders pluse couple phants and some cats from the lins.

Barb archer and barb sword both move away

Well not an unexpected response. So be it. I attack next turn.

Quote:You know what our opinion on the matter is. We've made it clear. And now the ball is in your court to make the decision to be aggressive, or continue to have positive relations.

- Kodii

Not sure why he thinks a single axe will deter me. Thier power is lower than mine and they have no roads to the area. Gives me time to set defenses.

I dont think there is a need for me to respond.

I do like the ability to double post my own thread smile

Just a comment on his "positive relations" comment.

I dont consider it positive relations when he is assisting people that are attacking allies and teching at a monster rate while runing a cardboard defense. Not to mention they were intending a similarly agressive settlement at my wheat deer site. Not that my army is huge but it is focused. I wont be able to attack but if he wants to whip and pay cash to upgrade an army instead of expanding and teching that helps us smile
