We're into the home stretch now. Cities go Legendary inside Spaceship travel time while they still have 2 techs and some parts to finish.
So, can espionage attacks cut more turns off me than FinHarry's remaining build time?
It was a nice surprise to have a turn with all 3 cities running at full power. Elensefar could have been hit by FinHarry this turn, so perhaps they're going for Weldyn or Basilisk instead. That's probably a smarter move but I half expected them to go for Elensefar just because BGN has already started there. BGN has also built up enough EPs for another attack if he has more spies.
I sent this offer to GJ and gifted a chariot on top of the Great Artist. We'll see what he says.
For reference, running 100% culture is equivalent to trading ~2k gold for ~1.9k culture with a higher ratio of that going to Weldyn. But obviously I can't go higher than 100% slider. A cathedral costs around 900g to rush buy and is worth 160cpt in Weldyn, 100cpt in Elensefar and 80cpt in Basilisk. A Confucian cathedral is an extra ~20cpt. If I don't have the opportunity to put up more Cathedrals, then they haven't used espionage attacks and I should win anyway.
So, 3k gold for 4k culture from the artist is a good deal for me, but it's not crazy good compared to eg. rebuilding cathedrals in Weldyn. I also lose a fair bit of flexibility in that it can't be split up into different cities. I haven't checked what a great artist would bulb, but I guess the gold should be better value for GJ. I'm probably willing to go higher though.
If I get the GA, hopefully that defends against what is currently their best strategy IMO; hurt Basilisk enough that it doesn't reach 22k and free up another artist and then throw everything they can at Weldyn. Their new plan should probably be to hit Basilisk to that same level again, and then divide their attention equally between Weldyn and Elensefar. The artist will save one of them and it's up in the air if the other can be hurt enough. I think they'll probably need to land more spies to make it work.
On that subject, I have some units in range to hit Browner next turn:
I hope dtay won't mind me razing it. I can't spare the troops to defend it properly and neither can he I think. I have another transport and galleon coming a turn behind and rebased my bombers from FinHarry's borders back up here for next turn.
Dtay has another 3 transports but they're only in range of 1 city and OH has an SAM there anyway. I don't think dtay could make any progress. I reluctantly decided not to bomb the improvements and sent the bombers home. Dtay is still out of range of Chive.
Finally traded a destroyer for transport down here. If I had waited for dtay to play first I could have used a 9 move guy and moved back into Ridley. But I guess there's no guarantee that would survive next turn anyway. I was half tempted to send down a mini fleet to protect the 1 destroyer, but decided that was stupidly risky without any vision further south. I didn't delete the destroyer to give them more WW.
