It's the beginning of the end of this PB with Piccadilly finishing their first spaceship part. Still no war against him from anybody. Meanwhile as you can see I started a mini war of my own against Mjmd. This was mainly to get the last point of XP for the Great General, which I already got thanks to a ship nearby. Still I marched onward. These units are mainly old crap and getting rid of them in a more meaningful way is better then just deleting them. By the way I probably deleted around 50 units this game mainly to reduce my maintenance. Since there was never a good war to throw them against I consider that a good way to reduce maintenance.

I took Mjmds city without effort as you can see. I offered Mjmd peace mainly because this war always was only to ensure the spawn of the Great General and because there is too much of his to go through. Of course the most important reason can be seen to the north. Amicalola started the next war for elimination this time against my long time rival Lazteuq. Now I'm not unhappy to see him go, but the slower that happens the better for my position. Miguelito also asked me to go to war against Amicalola. I'm certainly willing to start the defense against Amicalola earlier. I positioned workers towards the Lazteuq border as well as my 2 mover stack. My plan is to play after Lazteuq in the future. Unfortunately Lazteuq only has some few infantry units and a lot of old crab that I already got rid of, but what he has a lot of is cannons. By playing behind him I may be able to pick up wounded Amicalola units. To make my intend clear I send him a fish, copper for fish, copper deal.

Meanwhile Amicalola and Miguelito both started the war against Piccadilly, who still only has 1 part of the space ship built. My concerns that he won't win this are growing. At the same time I have the hope that Miguelito goes for space after Piccadilly instead of a domination attempt like Amicalola. Then again Amicalola winning this game by domination would be awesome too. How often have multiplayer games been won by domination anyway and I mean a proper domination not concession.

Also somewhat annoyingly Mjmd popped borders in his island fortress taking away a good food resource. Argh  smile

WAR!!! I declared against Amicalola this turn. Unfortunately I did not find any big wounded stack of his in Lazteuqs land. Probably Lazteuq already took care of it. But I found a wounded destroyer, which I took. Amicalola wanted me to go to war against any of my other neighbors, but I have seen how the war on the other continent turned out and the only way to defend against Amicalola is together with my neighbors. Amicalola started taking some cities in former GKCland, which is too far away for me to intervene.

Lazteuq lost one small city in the south-east in his home land. I stationed some defensive units in Persepolis, which is on a hill. Mainly to delay any further invasions on that side. As you can see I also started railroads in Lazteuq's homeland and stationed my 2-mover closer to the fighting. It's unfortunate that I never got to Advanced Flight to upgrade them, but nothing can be done about that.

In fact after getting Flight I stopped research in order to use the gold to upgrade all old units in my territory (musketman and rifles). Any better units are to far away on the tech tree. At least I have the following units available to defend against Amicalola:

- Artillery
- Anti-Tank
- Fighter
- Infantry
- Destroyer

Amicalola hasn't made any progress on the tech tree for a long time so I should be good to go with them. I really hope Miguelito also joins the war effort.

Lastly the war effort on the astronomy island. I abandoned the newly conquered city to defend BotonayBay. I don't expect an invasion this turn as Amicalola is propably more focused on the piccadilly and Lazteuq side of the war.

My last city overview is roughly 50 turns ago and since I just started a war that in all likelihood will devastate my cities, it is a good moment to have a look at them again.

The Core:

It doesn't look like it, but quiet a few things have changed in my capitol. For one Temple of Artemis together with monasteries were obsoluted. In return my capitol gained Oxford and grew to a proud 24 pop. Until last turn I was running 4 scientist. Thanks to a levee it also gained 14 hammers from rivers. Unfortunately I was never able to get power to the city as other buildings got more important or the health became to unbearable. Still a great capitol.

Crysta of course is still the Hindusim holy city now with a whooping 80 gold from the shrine. But it already is outshone by the Creative Construction HQ with 92 gold. Add to that Wall Street and you have my main gold contributor. The city itself go worse though. As you can see it is starving and I plan to draft in the next turns. I gave away 2 tiles to the northern neighbor city, which you will see in a moment. Without the huge gold income the city now would be a worthless, but better fishing village.

I know I know, the city is still called Amn. But I figured renaming it now is more confusing then sticking with the name. Thanks to the addition of a levee (10 hammers) Amn has become a mainly production city with some good commerce in the mix. To increase the production even more I took some tiles from Crysta and the cow from Old Camp. As you can see I also dropped the islamic holy city for some 17 gold, just for the fun of it.

New Nobilia managed to make another switch in prioritisation. Of course it still is a draft city thanks to Globe Theatre as shown by the 198 turns of draft unhappiness. In fact I just drafted this turn again. But of course the biggest change is the addition of a levee. Thanks to it and the discovery of coal on the hill north of it, it started to get back into the production business.
This caused a heavy tile reconfiguration. The food tiles west (deer and sugar) went to the capitol. In return New Nobilia took the two river tiles in its first ring back from Figaro, which can't build a levee. In the east it also took a windmill from Hateno and until a few turns ago it also used the coal mine and the neighboring farm in the north. With all of those the levee produced 10 extra hammers. Of course with the beginning of the war it started heavy drafting again, but this time it also can produce regular units.

Township in the north also made a great change with the introduction of levees. Some 50 turns ago it was a pure commerce, low hammer city, but with the levee it gained 10 extra hammers. This of course was achieved by taking away tiles from its neighboring city in the east Matango. And when I did that it made sense to take even more hammer tiles in the west from Old Camp. Add to that 4 more pop and we have another production/commerce city.

Freeja unlike other cities stayed true to its original purpose, that is production. It increased its production output by taking away production tiles from all its neighboring cities and growing 5 more pop. This was only possible because I turned some lumbermills into windmills and built a lighthouse. I also completed West Point, but I never managed to complete or let alone begin Ironworks here.

With the advent of more expensive units (hammer-wise) Old Camp declined to a sorry fishing village. All the production tiles went to neighboring cities. Even with all its production tiles it only managed to make 15 base hammers, which is ok for the beginning of the camp, but with modern units it no longer holds up. It had a good run while it lasted.

Figaro managed to stay a relevant military city thanks to Heroic Epic and Moai. It lost a bit of output to neighboring New Nobilia, but it also took back the copper from Hateno, which in the end is only 1 hammer short compared to 50 turns ago.

This concludes my core cities. Next up are the other parts of my empire.

Continuing on we go to

The East:

The most amazing thing about Hateno is still that it wasn't razed by Lazteuq back then. In the mean time it managed to build some important buildings with the lend production tiles. Since their completion it turned into a quiet fishing villages providing drafties.

Fireburg remained a fishing village that can produce a little bit of something. Of course the main purpose always was access to fur and culture pressure towards Lazteuq. And hey you can draft in those fishing villages.

Unfortunately Esther city never was able to gain the important river tiles to manage its food shortage. But it's not that I didn't try. In fact you can see that I gained the first water tile from Lazteuq and I will gain the important river tiles in the upcoming turns. But of course this will mostly be irrelevant at this point in time.
Still Esther City manages to make up some good production.

Matango turned from a mixed hammer/commerce city to a pure commerce city in the last turns. Only recently it took up the coal mine from New Nobilia so that somebody works that good tile. Matango was actually the city with the most happiness problems in recent turns as I was a bit to liberal with the draft button here. Of course drafting was necessary to cut back from 15 to 11 pop. The city didn't need that many pop and reducing its size also made maintenance better.

Township got quite good in the hammer department to a point where I can say it is now a pure production city. Thanks to the culture pressure on Lazteuq I gained the whale tile and kept my tiles from Mjmd.

The newest addition on the astro island. Main purpose was access to dye and another iron. With enough time it could become a nice production city if you add 4 more watermills.

Next we look at my island belongings in

The South:

This city most likely belongs in the Core section now (and Old Camp into the West). But at this stage of the game I won't make that change. Unlike other fishing villages it manages to get up to 17 base hammers thanks to chemistry-workshops, railroad and oil. A good nearby production city for all my water unit needs. Reminder should have focused a drydock sooner.

The discovery of oil in Zeal was a nice addition. Unlike it's northern neighbor Zeal managed to built that Drydock. I must have been asleep at the Wheel with that focus.

Last time this was a freshly founded city. And now it is a production and more important food powerhouse. To bad I already built Globe Theatre as this city would have also been a great draft city. Reminder to myself. Draft more here.

A small fishing village addition to the empire in recent turns. Only the very basic buildings, because I didn't want to take away important tiles from Figaro for to long. Reminder draft it.

Lastly we look at the

The West:

PaddyDoyleBoots grew into a nice fishing village. Not much can be said about it other then that I need to draft some more here.

One of the best additions in the West. DirtyOldTown turned into the great production city I envisioned it to be with windmills, the watermill and the more chemistry-workshops.

I bet that RisingOfTheMoon is a thorn in Miguelitos side with all of its culture. Good thing though because thanks to that it kept a food resource. Eagle-eyed readers will also see that I dropped the Forbidden Palace here, but the maintenance effect was neglectable. Forbidden Palace would have needed to be placed further away. But better place it here then nowhere. smile

Wendel turned from a place in the middle of nowhere into a great production city. Good thing I chained irrigation here as the health situation is terrible. That would be one thing I would have focused next without the game end in sight.

The game gets more and more existing. Even though a third player (civac) declared war on Piccadilly he managed to build all space ship parts. I expect a launch this turn. Am I correct that from now on he only has to survive 10 turns? My hopes of surviving this PB intact are increasing. Especially because the war towards Amicalola turns out well to.

I spotted a larger contigent of Miguelito destroyers and missle destroyers in the sea between us most likely heading towards Amicalola. But keep in mind Miguelito hasn't declared war on Amicalola yet. I started going into full trust mode toward Miguelito. If Piccadilly looses this PB Miguelito has the best chance of winning this PB by space. He has enough tech already and will get the other techs in no time and he has more then enough production. Going for a domination win like Amicalola probably takes more time the space. So I fully committed to being a vassal of his and send him some more iron and copper deals.

On the actual war side I am desperately looking for enemy units to hit. In the northern coast of GKCland I only found captured cities without transports. Hopefully I didn't miss them somewhere in the fog. Note that Amicalola uses the islands as airbases for his bombers. Luckily the first fighters were finished this turn which I deployed towards Lazteuq to give him cover against bombers.

I found 2 destroyers of Amicalola in the sea between me and Lazteuq. They killed two of my galleons, which actually might turn out to be a problem as I have less and less ships to transport units. But for now I am more concerned on defending the mainland. Hopefully there won't be a landing by Amicalola on Fireburg as I am a bit lightly defended there.
Other then that I drafted a lot and promoted more and more musketman and rifles to infantry.

I was curious and googled a bit. I found this:

https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/w...st-6937423

According to that post it's not about the capital but rather about the palace building. As long as you hold at least one palace building you can win the space victory. I didn't know you can have palace buildings of defeated enemies. I need to check into the code for that. I smell a new curious civplayer segment on the horizon.
