RBP3 [SPOILERS] Team Nice Shot - Pacal of Carthage

Quote:Dear CHASM:

What a crazy world we are living in! All of a sudden, wars are springing up everywhere in the north. And with the game suddenly becoming alliance vs. alliance, Carthage has reason to suspect an attack on the both of us to be just 20 turns out.

With that in mind, it is very important that we start coordinating our efforts now. The first and most important piece for us to work out is going to be city placement. We would like to find a natural and agreeable border between our nations, so that rather than having to worry about expansion right now, we can put our efforts toward preparing for the upcoming conflict.

What do you think of using the valley west of the river that runs through your land as a natural border? We can iron out the details soon, but we want to get the discussion started right away.

I know that the wheat would be a pretty big stretch - much closer to his territory than ours. But he doesn't know that we moved 2 South... for all he knows the wheat could be half-way between where our civs first started, and could be a natural tile for us to want. I think we should play this conversation much the same way Krill played our discussions: urgency is key, friendship is key, and we have a common enemy coming. And who knows, maybe if we give them the wheat we could ask for something (say, 3 workers, lol) in return?

Anyway, what do you think of the draft?

Southern screen shot. Will send both to Krill for forwarding if you don't see any homeland security risks left in the shots.

Krill border e-mail sent. I will wait until morning to send the other three messages... Krill e-mail #2, map e-mail, and CHASM e-mail.

I still would like to know if those borders are of a city settleted westward or their capital. If it is their capital, I think trying to get the sheep would be seen as absolutely ridiculous by them. For the record, I don't think Krill diplomacy is the way to go.

I toned down the propagandizing a bit and sent the note to them. They have given us directions to France, so we will be travelling NE a bit to hit their road network. The goal is to get as much information about their land as possible in the next few turns so that we can then come to a reasonable agreement, even if it doesn't include wheat. Frankly, more important than the wheat will be defending against a coming attack, so we will want to consider tactics carefully when planning our coming city sites.

By the way, Krill wants a chat today. I am only available for the next 10 or 15 minutes, but I sent him a quick note saying that anyway.

I think the "Toggle bare map" button gives you nice, non-confidential screenshots. In addition you can use Alt-I to hide the user interface, hiding stuff like sliders, research, and the like.
I have to run.

I just watched the chat. All looks good on that end. But like seeing the e-mail-in-progress, watching the chat unfold on my screen was weird. Does G-Mail have a way to enable us to do these chats with both of us participating but not as one person?

Thanks! I love that alt-I trick. Even when the screenshot doesn't have any secure information, hiding the interface sure is nice.

Quick note, I just had a quick chat with Krill about our Northern sheepcity. I ran out of time to coppy and paste it, but it is saved on our gmail.
