WW8: Madness in Outer Space (game thread - players only)

I have a night power. I didn't want to use it until there were lower numbers and I had a better shot. It's a role block role. So if we lynch a scum today I have a smaller target and might miss. I'd rather be more sure of who to block. That's one of the reasons I've been acting out. Survive the day and night by being suspicious or insane. So... yeah. I'm not sure if it was smart to reveal that or not. Should I use it tonight or should I wait another night and get a better shot?

This is the issue with revealing roles it makes things easier for scum. It feels super stupid to post this, but I need to survive the day, even if I don't the night...

I believe your power claim. Unfortunately for you, I think it strongly suggests you're scum. Your play on Bob makes little sense whether you're scum or villager. The only plausible explanation I can see is that you wanted to be certain of hanging Bob rather than Erebus, as it might swing back yet. I'm not prepared to commit to getting you hung, but I'm strongly considering it. Depends on what Sareln offers, he's still my other prime suspect.

If you're innocent, I strongly suggest using your power tonight. We should have a good impression of who's scum after today's lynch.

I don't think your argument for acting crazy makes sense, btw. It was fairly obvious after day 1 that all villagers have a 1-shot role, and you started acting [strike]crazy[/strike] crazier on day 2. Your role is not of any particular importance compared with other villagers, so there was absolutely no reason to try to attract suspicion. I'd be far more inclined to believe this argument in a game with open roles.

Isn't that the opposite? I mean Day 2 the target pool for scum would decrease, so I should be more suspected. If Bob had been Scum I would have used my power that night. Fact is though I've said it over and over again why I did jump on Bob. Its just who I am. Technically it would be ODDER if I hadn't switched to kill Bob now that I think about it. I mean I have a history of doing that. Switching to make the killing vote. I mean... that's just me.

And how is my role not of any particular importance? If I roleblock the scum who's making the kill noone dies... I mean Jesus Catwalk, I don't see how that doesn't have any particular importance. But it requires that I specifically hit on the one doing the killing. Understand how I might have wanted to survive a couple days to get to a point where I had a good shot?

Ok, just caught up on the last few pages. Do you guys want me to claim now, or wait for Sareln?

Here's the current list of known or claimed abilities for reference:

Serdoa - Protect, wounds self (confirmed - dead)
Catwalk - Protect, wounds target

Novice - Night self-protect, wounds self (wounding part confirmed)
Erebus - Day self-protect, no damage (protection confirmed)

Winston - Day vigilante (confirmed - dead)
Rowain - Heal (confirmed, used on Novice)

Injera - Sing to show lack of other night actions privately (confirmed - dead)
Bob - Pass out to show lack of night actions publicly (confirmed - dead)

Lewwyn - Roleblock

Sareln -
Uberfish -

The fact that Novice took damage and Erebus didn't actually strikes me as breaking the symmetry somewhat. Unless Erebus takes damage when he comes out of hiding.

Does your PM specifically say that you can prevent night kills this way? I don't find that very likely. But if you are correct, that does indeed make your role more important. I'll admit I didn't consider that option. As for switching to Bob, it was a horrible play that we had already alerted each other about.

uberfish, I'd prefer that Sareln first gets the chance to claim. But if you feel your claim would help matters any, go ahead. I disagree with your theory about Erebus not taking damage, as I lump my ability together with those of Serdoa and novice. I'd lump Erebus together with Injera and Bob.

Rowain Wrote:Yes he could hurt SCUM if he finds one. Butas far as we know. This wound would mean nothing for them because no other way of hurting SCUM has been told till now. So why should SCUM have healing again?

I really don't see why scum couldn't be given a healing power, even if it's just to blend in with village.

I still think that theory is unlikely enough that I won't vote to lynch Rowain tonight. We will probably have a better idea after we see more powers.

Injera and Bob's abilities didn't protect themselves, while Erebus' does. And I am sceptical that village really has 4 protective abilities, to be honest.

I find it plausible. There was a lot of discussion in past games about how seer roles make the game less fun. We haven't seen any actual seer ability so far, so it makes sense for there to be a bunch of protective abilities. We have 5 protective abilities if you include Rowain and Erebus.
