So I was thinking a bit about some longer-term things this morning.
First of all, my golden age ended. I was still trying to decide whether or not I wanted to kick off my 3-man golden age next turn (as Pindicator did), but Niels Bohr solved that for me (by being ANOTHER scientist. I did use one for an Academy, but now I still have 3 scientists and only 1 prophet)
So I can't kick it off anyways, even if I wanted to.
That GP was my "1000" GP (670), so now my next one is the 1200 one (804). I have So Poor, who has been starving out merchants, and So Dumb, the Nat Epic city. Both of those are in the low 600s.
I think So Poor is currently running 8 merchants, because I'm in Caste + Pacifism. So without my golden age, that's making 48 GPP/t and is due to pop in 3t. So Dumb is running 5 GPs I believe. The plan was that So Dumb is the long term GP home, because of all the food and Nat Epic, so I wanted to get a GP out of So Poor first.
But I don't really want to stay in Caste or Pacifism, which is going to make it quite awhile before So Poor gets a GP out without them (maybe about 10t). I'm not sure I can keep So Dumb off till then. Or if that's even a good idea. I might be able to trade a scientist for something else with Pindicator, though given that he just kicked off his 3-man, and is saving an engineer for Mining, Inc., I doubt he has one.
But anyways, assuming that he and I are able to figure something out and dispatch Gaspadore and Yuris125 over the next few to many turns, what's next. I think it's likely that we are going to try some modern war. We may end up defining some "rules" but let's go.
Pindicator advantages:
* Nav 1 ships out of the gate
* AP for 2h/city and/or AP victory cheese, though I think if it's just down to the two of us that would be off the table.
* Buddhism is more widely spread, giving him more gold for his shrine
* Mining, Inc.
My advantages:
* Kremlin
* Pyramids (assuming I get them from Sian's lands)
* My awesomeness?
It came to my mind that Cristo Redentor is going to be huge. It's not AS huge for me (though it's a big help to be able to revolt every turn vs. every 5 turns). But the DENIAL factor is huge (sticking him in the same civics except for if/when he kicks off a 4-man GA or eats the anarchy).
Cristo is at Radio, and I am only 2 techs away from that (Electricity and Radio). In addition to those, he lacks Scientific Method and Physics. We are both currently heading up towards Rifling and Combustion, where I am up Replaceable Parts, Steel and half of Steam Power (though he's probably teching Steel this turn).
He's IND but I'm SPI so I think that I get a bigger bonus (I get 100% and he gets 50%). He'll be (I think?) done with his GA before he gets to Radio, but I might not be. A GE is potentially in play, of course.
The problem now is that he's teching quite a bit faster than me (especially now that he's in a GA and I'm not).
