Gillette Diplomacy Thread: Dossiers, Scheming, and Puppet Strings

Just thinking we should probably send an email to the Trolls to confirm a NAP extension. Shall we suggest T100? We also mentioned clarifying the border agreement, but I think that can wait if it is what's holding up the NAP extension. We certainly don't want to war with them in the next 40 turns with M3 parading Axes around our land.

How about this, Mero have you run out of synonyms yet?

Quote:Hello Tropical Trolls,

Sorry it's taken a week to get back to you. We're keen to keep concentrating on the threat to our north so if we can organise a conflict-free border with yourselves that will be great. We'd like a NAP extension to t100 although we could go longer if you want?

At the moment our settling plans are like so:
with the silk city due to be settled in the next few turns. We see that you've settled for the gold - did you go for the plains hill or the grass hill? If you went for the GH our BFC's will clash on the deer and the tile above it, which is a shame, but not a big deal.

The southern-most city still needs a bit more exploration (our explorer Trac II raises his glass to Coco Rush by the way) and might end up 1W of the position indicated.

How does all that sound to you?

Gillette

Should I redact some more of the map?

Great message! I don't have a problem sending that screenshot.

I would take out the line about maybe moving the southern city. Don't want them getting any ideas that maybe we'll share the ivory.

Sorry it's taken a week to get back to you. We're glad to hear you've blunted TEAM's aggression, as we're still a bit sore about them killing our scout.

Our current settling plans are attached -

- the silk city is due to be settled in the next few turns with the others to follow. We see that you've settled for the gold - did you go for the plains hill that you mooted in your message of Aug 24th?

The southern-most city on our dot-map still needs a bit more exploration (our explorer Trac II raises his glass to Coco Rush by the way) so it may change slightly.

How does all that sound to you?

The interesting times are over for us; M3 took Tortuga (now Talking Parrot), and we've settled for peace. We signed an NAP until T100, and signed a border agreement that draws the border between our respective nations a bit north of Tortuga.

We appreciate your confirmation of your location, and also the offer as regards to Buddhism. Regarding the latter, we unfortunately have nothing to offer in return at present, and news of gods has been deemed a relatively low priority. Thanks for the offer though, we'll definitely keep that in mind for the future.

A brief reply:
Quote:Ahoy mateys,

Sorry to hear of this unfortunate turn of events. I guess we don't have much to discuss at the moment, but I'm sure at some point in the future our interests will coincide. In fact we're trying to get war chariots out ASAP to ensure we don't face the same fate.

Anyway let us know if you need anything.

Has the message to Pirates been sent? If not, I have one minor correction. We have plain old chariots, not war chariots

Oops, sorry, already gone.

I'm just about to log in and it looks like Mackoti logged in about seven hours ago - are you back Mack? Would be good to have some experience around to point out our screwups...

That's awesome! I'm happy to see Mackoti back at RB in general, let alone this game.

First of all, we have enjoyed our years of peace and would like to maintain a peaceful front in the future as well. So thanks for taking the lead and bringing a concrete suggestion to the table.

We eventually decided to plant with the gold in the first ring, because we really needed the extra happiness online ASAP. We had already delayed it for much too long, due to our war with TEAM.

About your suggested settlement plan. It would be acceptable to us with a minor change in the south. We would like to settle a city 1E of the ivory, conflicting with your southern dot. That would be our border city in the area, though, so you could settle the rest of that western peninsula as you see fit. Way up in the north, beyond your screenshot, we would also like to settle one more city, 5N of our copper mine west from city of Bloody Mary (city NE from your capital). We think this is a fair border, and hope you'll accept it. We haven't given much thought on NAP duration yet; let's get to details after we are in agreement about the borders. Tentatively T105 would seem quite right.

How do you feel about this?

Best regards,
Tropical Trolls

I think we want that Ivory, and should point out our generosity in ceeding the gold to them. Then we should get two settlers over there very quickly...

And we've just had this from M3

Hey, it's been awhile since we've heard from you. We realize that with how close we are to each other compared to other teams, we need to pick up negotiations so that we can more solidly come to an agreement that works for us both. To start with, it would be a good idea to set up a NAP so that we do not have to worry about aggressions from each other and can develop for awhile with some sense of peace. Maybe something until T100 or T110 sounds like the best idea to us.
Looking forward to returning to discussions with your team.

Sincerely,
Menagerie-trois
