RBP7 [SPOILERS] - The Chronicles of Nyania

Played and ended the turn.

Mackseven got the Pyramids this turn. Would you look at that... Team Pyramids managed to accomplish their promised goal. lol And in an 18-player game too. Good for them.

We've got our Heroic Epic unit sorted: our Sentry Chariot is now triple-promoted. So that's one less thing to worry about.

Writing's on the way at a good speed now that we're working 2 Gold resources. Aesthetics is next on the list.

The capital has finished a Worker and started on a Granary. We can whip that in a turn or two.

I'm on a Boat! will finish a Lighthouse this turn thanks to a chop, and can start on a Granary next.

Borders expand at Aybabtu next turn. I think we'll finish off the Barracks then chop/whip metal units galore. A Worker is on hand to hook up the Pigs ASAP. I've said it before, but man... that really is an absolutely lovely Heroic Epic site right there.

Pwnage will also contribute a metal unit or two, then build another Worker.

Trololopolis will finish its Stele and then chop out a Granary.

And for the first time in the game, our demographics aren't actually looking half bad. smile

Not much time so will have to be quick with this update.

Borders expanded at Aybabtu, Copper online. Barracks finished this turn, then 2 chops will finish a Spear next turn. Just in time, as we can see a Chariot of Azz's 3 turns away to the SW.

Switched to a Worker in Pwnage now that it's at size 3. Can switch back and whip the Spear at any point though, if danger looms.

One big decision that needs to be made NEXT turn: do we settle the GG in Aybabtu, or do we make a Medic III Chariot? It's one super-healing unit vs hordes of 2 promotion (CR2?) metal units. I think I'm inclined towards settling the GG, especially since we've already qualified for the Heroic Epic, but will leave it open for comments. smile

I say a Medic 3 scout á la TMIT if we go that route.

I'd settle. You're likely to get more GGs for medics which are (I think) most useful on attack.

We definitely want a supermedic at some point - the question is whether to do it now or with our next GG. My reasoning on settling vs supermedic right now is that it'll probably conserve more troops in the immediate future. Attacking cities with CR2 rather than CR1, for instance, leads to a massive difference in odds... it's often the tipping point in bringing you from under-strength to over-strength in many early battles (i.e. ~30% odds to ~70% odds). I think we're likely to save more troops with the higher odds than we'll gain with faster heal time for troops surviving lower odds battles.

Also, there's the fact that a supermedic is kind of an "eggs all in one basket" sort of thing - in that if you screw up and lose the unit, it's all gone forever. (Not that we'd be likely to, but it's a possibility.) Whereas a settled GG is the gift that just keeps on giving - especially when it pushes you over a particular XP threshold. And even more so in a unit-spamming city not so far off an 80-hammer Heroic Epic. smile

I myself just usually settle them. When I need a GG medic, I use scouts though.

So...Settle.

Writing is in. Aesthetics is next.

Someone already has Confucianism! Apparently Sunrise or Slowcheetah according to Civstats. Judging by overall score I'm betting Sunrise.

Also, Lewwyn got a Prophet. And he has the Buddhist holy city. Gah.

Whipped the Granary for 2 pop points. Tentatively scheduled a Lighthouse next, which can be 1-turned next turn thanks to our Organized trait. That'll allow us a 3 food, 2 commerce lake tile going forward, so I think it's a decent investment of 30 hammers.

A Library is an option for the future, as well as another Worker. Plus of course, metal units.

Down in Aybabtu: 1 turn Spear FTW! Also, settled the Great General so it'll be 5 XP units from hereon in.

Hey LP, I know we have all moved on, but I have one final (I hope) question. If you had a neighbour who had the reputation for uber competitiveness and was perhaps called LLPP how would you proceed? In general terms obviously.

My contention in all this hysteria is that if a player finds themself next door to LP, and being aware of LP's reputation across the gameplay of CIV, I might expect the double move and not take risks accordingly... I would anticipate such events given that these are allowed in this games settings.

Just asking...

I'd expect to be double moved and build extra defenders. Mind you, in my state of paranoia this is pretty much what I do with any neighbour regardless of who they are. lol

It's not an accident that we're constantly competing for #1 in power... wink
