OK, here's an offball idea I'll throw out there for us to consider. Obviously I haven't sent this yet:
Quote:Dear Dantski,
Thanks for agreeing to halt EP spending. We should both be able to sit at 43 EP and spend our points on other teams. Which brings up this unorthodox proposal...
Would you be interested in sending us your Demographic bar graphs in order to get more information on Nakor? Let me explain. We already have visibility on one another's bar graphs, so you wouldn't be giving away any information on yourself that we don't already have. But if you sent us your bar graphs with Nakor's data, we could use our number-crunching powers to give you a breakdown on exactly what he's been up to since the start of the game on a turn-by-turn basis. We would have more info, you would have more info, the only real loser here is Nakor.
Of course it's a strange request, and we'd certainly understand if it's not something that would interest you. But our teams have been working well together thus far, so we thought we'd sound you out on another possible way to cooperate more closely. We would need three bar graphs (Food, Production, and Power) to make this work. And trust us, you won't hurt our feelings if you say no. :)
Let us know what you think. Cheers.

I had this idea while thinking of ways we could possibly weasel more information out of the other teams. No idea if it's worth doing, or if we should even send a message like this, but I'll throw it out there.
The game rules state "no maps/screenshot trading until Paper tech", so I'm not entirely sure where this stands from a rules perspective. The clear intent of that rule is to prevent screenshot exchanges of maps, but does it also apply to Demographics screenies? What do the observers think?

I agree with your interpretation of the intent but a screenshot of the bar graphs would violate the stated rule, by my reading anyways. Of course the bar graphs could "easily" be converted into a list of paired integers, but doing so is not much different from the coded map location descriptions that are currently legal.

I'd say the intent of the rule was to outlaw anything that would naturally require paper to draw out in the first place. While it could be said that the graph could be drawn in the dirt between two people, i think that would be stretching the wording a bit. Upon further though, I think that maybe you should be required to have mathmatics as well to understand the graphs :neenernee

The same question came up in RBP1 and the map maker was asked to interpret the rules: (Warning: Link to spoiler thread)

Anything you say can and will be used against you...
Anyway, the players involved actually did exchange the data but not using screenshots, they traced the graphs and exchanged spreadsheets, I think.

This seems pretty against the spirit of the rules, so I'd rather not do it.

I must say, I am a bit surprised to hear a suggestion like this from you, Sullla after getting the heat on the city swapping in RBPB#1.
Anyway, I fully understand your hunger for hard data to cement your C&D and it is clear after a number of MP games now, that those number crunching abilities are vital to a successful game.
I think you risk to end up in a slightly similar situation like the two blocs in the RBPB#1, not regarding tech trading obviously, but EP spending.
Either you bring it up in the public forum to discuss whether it is allowed or not. By this you obviously loosing your edge on it.
Or you are going ahead with it and risk being accused of using gamey, against-the-RB-ethics tactics later on by the ones who did not apply it.
I would say the safest bet is to not do it.

That sounds like a resounding "no." Well, it was worth the idle speculation. Back to waiting for the next turn to begin.

The turn rolled over very late for American east coast time, a little before midnight. I happened to see it right before I was going to sleep, and got in some late night action:
- Chamberlain surived another lion attack, going to 4XP in the process. He took one hit, and again sits at 1.7 health. We definitely want to rest him this turn, then we can decide whether or not to move him next turn at 1.9 health. Speaker, which direction do we go next? NE reveals the most information, and takes us towards Jowy's capital, but E lets us stay on a forest tile. Hmmm...
- Jubal Early moved SE and revealed another lovely city location, on the white dot. This should probably be city #5, after our planned Blue and Pink spots. This close to our capital, it should be relatively safe to leave for a bit. We could use this spot for Moai, or irrigate everything and make it a Great Person/Globe Theatre drafting factory, or go the standard commerce cottage route. Lots of nice options.
I think Jubal should move SE, then S, and then double back towards our cities for guard duty. That will reveal a good bit more of the south, and still get Jubal back around the time that our next settler is produced.
- Workers finished their chop, monument in Antietam next turn. Then they start farming the rice.
- We actually had a forest grow at Gettysburg! I outlined it in red. That will surely go into a settler or worker chop later, so it's like getting 20 shields for free. A nice little break.
Internationally, we can see from the Soldier points this turn (T39) that Jowy finished Archery research last turn. They actually have more Soldier points than us, despite their army of one warrior, which should tell you something about the inaccuracy of that statistic! sunrise's team had the only score change this turn, finishing research on Bronze Working. They were the only team lacking it, so now everyone has BW and Agriculture. We're the only ones without Fishing, for obvious reasons.
Hopefully we can get in another turn or two before Thanksgiving arrives, so stay tuned...

Looks like a shipyard to me. If you want to quick strike a capital in the mid game or end game, you'll wish you had one.
I'm expecting that, when you've done the math, Battle of River Corner will be settled first, to use the forests as accelerant.
Side comments: gods, I had forgotten how green this map script is....

I have to agree on the Imperialistic trait: it increases the rate at which you get cities out, but how's that going to help when it's a lot of underdeveloped cities? Funny thing is that this trait might've been godly in earlier Civ games.
At some point I was planning on doing a variant where I settler-spammed, and I will indeed chronicle the game on a website. Since I already played a game with JC, I'm going to rely on the creative trait (so I'm playing as Catherine II of Russia, yay) for free border pops so that I can skip Stonehenge and monuments and head right for a granary in each city, and then the city will build...guess what, MORE settlers! And it's gonna be on a highlands map (I'M PLAYING AS RUSSIA, AFTER ALL!!!).
Just had to give some comments.
Civilization IV sure runs like a dream on my new computer.
