I strongly disagree. That result was far more valuable than most dead-enemy-unit battles; Luddite had ~10% odds to do that much damage or more on that attack, and it meant that he didn't lose another chariot while knocking out the rest of the stack, which is the real victory.

According to "advanced combat odds" I had a 17% chance of doing that much damage or more. The spear had a 20% chance of winning without taking any damage at all.

I'm getting about 17% for 58hp or fewer, which would be 2.4 str (and 19-20% for no damage at all to the spear). What were your chariot's promotions?

The defending spear:
+100% vs. mounted
+25% River
+5% Fortification

I had combat 1 on the chariot.
I forgot about the 5% fortify, but that shouldn't change it much. 1.8 strength is 44 hp, right?

Yeah, 1.76str which ends up rounding to 1.8.

I get 15.86% odds of 44hp or better (I'd been misreading my summary column; my combat odds reader reports "X HP or higher" so I was calculating "less than 44hp" instead of "44hp or less", but only 0.72% odds to win.

That spear was knocked low enough that you'd get 80% odds to win with a Combat I chariot.

There's a mod you can download called "advanced combat odds" which gives a lot of useful info. That's what I use. It sounds like Cynehead is using something different though.

He got another horse archer there. That's not good... my vultures only have 9% odds against his shock axes on a hill.


My chariot attacks at 20% odds, and wins an amazing victory! 20% odds.


My other chariots were wounded, and fought at 50, 50, and 30% odds respectively. However... fortune smiles upon the sumerian people.


Sometimes this game seems really weird. I win all the low % battles, and lose all the high % ones? wtf??? Well, as long as I win in the end, I'm happy
