[SPOILERS] scooter's Industrial Revolution

That's a fair point, and I agree we can't rule that out. Ultimately it's your call, and I'm well aware that you have a lot more experience with pindicator's playstyle than I do. I'm happy to take the greedier spot, just so long as I get to write the "I told you so!" post if it doesn't work out. [Image: wink.gif]

I've updated the sandbox, and I'll see about planning out a few more turns into the future tonight.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and say we're going for 3b, and if it backfires, I'll have nobody else to blame. But I think it's the right call here smile. I went ahead and finished the turn since I'm not quite sure when I'll be back around tonight, and I made a worker decision that hopefully you won't hate too much. lol

Given that we no longer care about roading the "3b" tile OR the grass hill, that left "J" with nothing really useful to do. I could move him onto the forest and begin chopping, but it would be done too soon. And we really don't care about a road on the grass forest tiles. So I moved him onto the horse tile so that he can road it while waiting for the settler. I know it's exposed and all that, but we are definitely not getting stabbed for a 46h worker steal unless pindicator has lost his mind. I purposely didn't move the Rifle onto the "3b" tile so as to not threaten pindicator's workers and signal peaceful intentions.

We'll want to pasture that horse pretty quickly, and this will save future worker turns since the workers have little else to do right now.

OK, that's an unorthodox worker move but it makes sense. We'll road the horses and then improve them first; the corn doesn't have to be improved since pindicator did it for us. I'll move ahead and with sandboxing, with the understanding that planning for this city is going to be somewhat up in the air depending on what happens with the borders.

We're also going to need a name for this city. We have Pasteurization for the cows city in the southwest; any suggestions for this one?

Also, as a reminder for the barb city. I of course approve of the island city name as well. wink

For the barbarian city, how about anaesthesia or antiseptics for injured soldiers. smile

A process for preserving food, especially liquid food and canned goods packed in liquid, which involves heating them to reduce the amount of bacteria and other life present in the food to safe levels without significantly harming the taste. Most notably used on milk (turning it from a very unsafe to very safe to drink) but also used for beer, wine, etc. Important not just for food preservation (a serious challenge in the early industrial era) but also because its development is closely tied to the development of germ theory in general, leading toward better sanitation, sewer systems, etc.

EDIT: post made in response to a question about Pasteurization which has since been deleted.

Suggestion 1: Motion Pictures. Celluloid was made from plants (corn) and the first motion picture was of a horse.
Suggestion 2: Barbed Wire. I personally think it's more historically appropriate for a western border city but maybe you guys will like it here instead.

Naming a city "Barbed Wire" certainly sounds like a thinly veiled threat. Makes me wonder if it's legal to communicate via city or unit names in an AI Diplo only game.

On a different topic, man, if you survive to hit Industrialism + Combustion you are going to be scary. It's not just the Panzers - with Vassage + Theocracy + Pentagon you'll be able to boat cities with City Raider III Marines unloading from Navigation II transports (with destroyers to bombard). That's definitely not something I'd want to be on the receiving end of.

Well, we don't have the pentagon yet...

No, players are not supposed to communicate via city or unit names in AI diplo games. There have been several cases of this happening in previous Realms Beyond games, resulting in some controversy.

PS: I forgot to mention earlier, I'll add myself as one of the lurkers who really enjoys reading this thread. Well done with the reports! smile I'll try and prod some of the other players to update their threads when there's a gap in their reporting, for the benefit of post-game analysis.

It's a fair point; I do see how the name would come off as aggressive. Better to pick something a little less provocative.

Though I am in fact rooting for the hammer soon. lol
