Japper, what's up...are you going to play your turn eventually?
PBEM 7 - Team Contest (4 x 2) - discussion
|
Turn played! I did say I wouldn't get to the turn yesterday, and trip back home (was over at my parents) took longer than anticipated.
I don't like to post this but for the sake of all players and the game's progress, I feel I have to.
@Japper. Lately, you have started to play very slow. Yes, we all have some days, where circumstances make it difficult to play. Usually, players here have shown very high levels of commitment and have had the courtesy to post in advance, if there are issues with their turns not being played on time. As you are part of no less than 3 PBEMs here on RB, I would assume that you play with the same sort of dedication (after all, why would you sign on for so many PBEMs if regular play is not certain). However, lately, you have slowed this game. Is there an issue in RL that makes it difficult to play your turns? When you had the issue with your computer, the other players were left to wonder about the duration of the break. Luckily we got Cornflakes to take over your part of the turns in order to prevent a stall of the game. When we play, we assume to play one turn a day in this particular PBEM and I assume that all players spend quite some time thinking about their moves etc. It is therefore simply not nice, to leave all of us other players in the lurch. Going forward, is regular play a problem for you? Is there a need for Cornflakes to take over yet again? Do we have to live with very short notices that you 'can't make it tonight'? I admit that I am pretty irritated about this.
Hey this is a one time only thing, I fucked up my Windows install so I had to reinstall my system tonight. It's back up now and I'll play in a few hours once everything downloads. Sorry for my slow play earlier, just the universe seemingly conspiring against me playing lately. This today however was unexpected and kind off out of my control really. I hope you can trust I'm trying my best to play in a timely fashion.
Hey, sometimes you can't control it. And of course, a PBEM doesn't take precedence over your actual life. Just do the best you can, and if there's going to be an issue for more than a day or two, let us know and maybe we'll see about taking steps to mitigate things for the rest of us. This game especially is demanding - with 7 other players, it's the largest Civ 6 PBEM we've had, so keeping the turn rate up has been a challenge. We've done a good job meeting that challenge so far, though, so let's keep it up.
The windows thing will be cleared up in a few hours, is there anything else that you anticipate? (I've got a few weekend trips coming up myself, but I'm hoping to bring my laptop with me and keep playing my turns - no smartphone, so no TeamViewer for me. I'll let everyone know if anything changes and I'll miss turns).

FYI, I am out and about for the next 4-5 hours, so don't expect my normal quick turn turnaround today.
Hi everyone,
an issue cropped up again about city gifting between the alliance members. Our Team has been following the agreement that a city can only be gifted on the turn the city gets founded or on the turn the city gets conquered. I do hope that all teams agree with us on this stand. We just put this forward as there seems to be some discussion (from the lurkers) about said agreement.
Hm, but I'm pretty sure you can't trade cities under occupation to anyone except the original owner. That came up in PBEM4, right?
I think that allowing trades at the end of a war wouldn't be an abuse - that'd be better than the alternate of teams carefully managing tactics so the "right" member captures a city. The point is to avoid gamey behavior like free Roman monuments, or infinite melee units, or free border pops, or extra German districts, taht kinna thing.
