I'm OK with extending the timer as long as we can do that and not still have to frequently pause. Would like input from other players since nobody has volunteered to admin yet...

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

+1. Just no more unrequested pausing.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Are you insane?

I don't see why you want Joey to go through the chore of asking for a pause every time, if we all know that he will need one given his turnsplit situation.

This is a good point for anyone who gets eliminated - if you still want to be involved don't spoil yourself as I'm sure we'll need cover for players.

Nope, I haven't read any spoilers yet, but I don't have that much time now to cover for other players frown

Guys I think you are exxagerating the problem. I think during last 10 turns we had only 3 pauses for GJ and most of them were resolved within 5-6 hours. It is not like we are pausing every turn for 24+ hours.

Increasing timer never made games going faster actually because people not being in turnsplit start planning their time considering full max turn duration and for normal turnsplit 6 hours cant make enough sense to avoid pauses completely.

My thoughts exactly.

Short pauses for 5-6 hours often cause a cascade of other players missing playing windows, eventually causing a day's delay anyway. But missing war turns isn't an option either. That will cause the game to die faster than anything.

I don't want to lengthen the turn timer. If you need a pause, ask for one. If someone doesn't ask for one and someone pauses, great. If not, tough cookies. Let's keep this thing going. This is the same circular conversation that we have in every game.

I'm in agreement on just leaving it as well.
GJ plays his turns consistently around the same time. It's when the turn rolls faster than normal that we end up in a holding pattern the next day.
And the war will end eventually...

Lengthening the timer relieves pressure on everyone, but I don't think that is in the interest of PYFT.
A pause at least makes you aware you are inconveniencing the rest of us.
