Finished mining and started BW, worker has just completed but not able to move. He will move onto the pigs and build a pasture. Next build is a warrior whilst growing to size 3.
After that I think it will be either another cheeky worker, a work boat and grow or a settler... Haven't decided yet. Whatever I decided could be speeded up by chopping and whipping (shortly). I am keen to found the double fish site soon as it will be perfect place to whip from. It will later turn into a GP farm.
My warrior is heading to explore the wines horses area for potential city sites. Hopefully some more seafood up there.
I have a screenshot of the top 5 cities screen that showed that Dreylin moved his settler although imageshack is being lame atm... I'll post it later for what its worth.

I noticed that our ep's are still the same so it is likely he hasn't met anyone else yet.

I have been rushing to play the save recently so apologies for the lack of updates.
Woeker has completed and is getting those rowdy pigs under control! Warrior being slow built and BW due in... 5t or 6t. Worker will build a mine on the hill before BW comes in - he will then chop the other two hills into another worker and then a settler.
Not sure where to settle first... I don't need any strat resources so probably the double fish site. Will then spend some time whipping ![whip whip](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/whip.gif) some workboats out... contemplating chopping one out to go explore before barb galleys turn up...
In fact - the save just turned up in my inbox but cannot play until tonight!

Worker completed pasture on pigs aet, next turn he will move to the Hill in the south and mine it. He should finish that and move to one of the forrested hills in the east just before BW comes in. As soon as BW is done he will start to chop. We will then start our first settler! Yay.
Had a brief chat with Darrell yesterday:
Quote:12:03 me: Hey Darrell, Hows tricks? Have you met anyone yet?
12:07 Oh wait there - you are gmt -5 aren't you... that would be 7am... carry on sleeping! ;-)
24 minutes
12:31 Darrelljs: heh-heh...I did play it ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
check pbemtracker ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif)
I actually got up early cause my kid had a nightmare.
12:32 Speakign of nightmares, I'm sharing my continent with Krill, I met him last turn. He is somewhere to my west.
He knows where my capital is but I don't know where his is
5 minutes
12:38 me: ahh - the wonders of fathership are still in the future for me!
Krill next door sounds like a headache.
Darrelljs: yeah...im worried about it. need to find a way to get a NAP before a bunch of axes show up.
that or spend a lot of early hammers on a deterrent
12:39 me: He is french so at least you don't have an early UU to worry about.
12:40 I have Dreyling next to me and you have Krill... hmmm I bet Yaz has Ruff.
Darrelljs: yeah, it seems highly likely
12:42 me: I wonder how far these islands are from one another... Everyone should be meetable (good word) by galley.
Darrelljs: that's the story...I havent built a scouting WB yet, but probably will do so in the near future
12:43 we should coordinate, go in the same direction to ensure we meet ASAP
me: Have you noticed that the NoScore mod still lets you see all the graphs apart from score?
12:45 Darrelljs: nope, I never looked!
that's unfortunate
me: I have enough ep's on Dreylin (and he has on me) to see each others GNP, Food, Prod etc... graphs
12:46 Not quite what i was expecting when we signed up to this mod!
12:49 Darrelljs: yeah...I have 0 plans to do any kind of C&D work, so it is only going to hurt me ![frown frown](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
12:51 me: me too I might try every once in a while if i have time. We could share graphs at anytime though if you like. Don't see any benefit now but there may be later on.
5 minutes
12:56 me: Gotta get some work done now - half way through the day here! later!
12:57 Darrelljs: l8r ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
Ok - so we have 3 Islands with 2 of us on each (probably)
Me and Dreylin
Darrell and Krill
Yaz and Ruff

Correspondence with Dreylin:
SL Wrote:Hi Dreylinian I,
I hope this PBEM is causing you less stress than the 1st one at the moment! ;-)
I was looking at doing a dot map of what I have scouted so far and was wondering if you would be happy to discuss a few map issues. We met at a thin strip of desert, that strip is where I am thinking our natural border is likely to form, nice that there doesn't appear to be too much of interest there apart from maybe some desert oil down the line. Obviously you know that my warrior turned around and started to head home after we met, as I know yours did, certainly initially anyway, I assume to scout more city sites and to not show hostility.
Are you in agreement with me that the desert area is a nice boundary between our two nations?
I'd also like to raise the issue of tech trading again. I have some deals potentially penciled in however, i don't want to neglect you as my neighbour and potential religious friend. Have you had any further thoughts about where you might be heading in the tech tree? I am heading towards Alphabet and would be willing to trade for it.
As a gesture of goodwill I would like to share some information I have established about the map. It would appear that not only do we share an island but also Darrell and Krill share an island. I would hazard a guess that Ruff and Yaz are also neighbours.
Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
PS: Did moving your capital get a much better site? ;-)
Dreylin Wrote:Hey Sitting Bull,
I was actually chatting with Yaz about the game the other day and he mentioned that he was sharing an island ... though was coy about who the other party was. I guess things are pretty equal in that respect.
Still no firm long-term tech plans; I'm letting circumstances dictate my immediate path and then will assess once I've met a few more people. Knowing you're grabbing Alphabet at least means we'll have the ability to trade even if we don't meet anyone else for a while!
In principle the desert would form a natural boundary between us, but there's really only space for a couple of cities on my side of it before it slips into Tundra and Ice. I'd much rather have a better idea of the full lay of the land between us before signing a border agreement, if you don't mind.
I've just moved a Warrior onto the forest hill South of the desert, but he's not planning to move any further. Mostly he's acting as a fogbuster for a Scout I have following a few turns behind. My intention is for the Scout to head on exploring while the Warrior moves back to a closer fogbusting site. It shouldn't be long before I have enough map knowledge to fully discuss a formalisation of our borders, and in the meantime, you're welcome to send an explorer of your own North. Hopefully we can both have de-fogged the land between us by the time Sailing and Writing have come in so we can immediatley get our Trade Routes going.
Oh, and yeah I think my Cap got substantially better from being moved ... otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it! 9-)
Dreylinian I.
SL Wrote:Hey Dreylinian I,
If your warrior sat on the hill was to do the scouting in my direction he would come up against my borders blocking you in 4 or 5 tiles time... There is a little space for 2 cities before my side of the desert but no more. Sounds like we are pretty tight on our island! I seem to have an as yet unexplored peninsula to my west - my warrior is off that way now to have a scooby.
I forget the turn we are on at present, I think we are about to start T20 which is the end of our current NAP - would you be interested in signing for a further 20 turns? If not 20 then name how many turns and I'm sure we can come to an agreement. The Native Americans are very amenable people you know! ;-)
Bet you're glad not to be on the same island as Ruff!
Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the NAtive Americans
Dreylin Wrote:Sitting Bull,
Yep, t20 on the horizon and I'd be happy to roll our NAP along for another 20t.
Sounds like my Scout should reach your borders in a half-dozen turns or so; I don't suppose you'll have Writing by then so we can sign OB and he can carry on through? If not, would you consider a small temporary and completely painless war to give him a chance to pass on by?
Dreylinian I.
SL Wrote:Hi Dreylinian I,
I won't have writing by then I'm afraid, I decided to clear off Mining and BW before heading down that line so still have a few turns to go on that.
My warrior is currently exploring the area to my west, but he has been hampered by attack from a vicious beat known as a lion. He bravely fought it off although has had to spend some time healing. It looks as if he will be done in the time it would take your scout to get there however, should there be a cheeky goody hut, Sitting Bull would like first dibs. Any huts after that are fair game. I don't know if there are any huts at all and it is looking unlikely at the moment since the peninsula seems to be coming to an end, but just in case.
So, based on the above; please feel free to declare war on me to pass.
Sound ok?
Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
Dreylin Wrote:Sitting Bull,
Sounds good to me, and I'll try and give you some warning before it happens. Of course the same offer is open to you if you get an explorer my way before Writing comes out, but we have some scary beasts of our own called Bears hanging around the neighbourhood...
Dreylinian I.
so we are going to have pseudo war to scout - I intend on sending my next warrior up to see Dreylin's cap whilst returning the first home... Have to get some names going to help out here! Any suggestions? I think the first warrior has to be W.G Grace. Spotted the theme anyone?
NAP until t40 with Dreylin.
Oh yeah - the pasture finished at Lords meaning it now rakes in 12f a turn at size 3! Yay! With a lighthouse and the other clams hooked up I can work the 3 food tiles for 18 food and run 6 specialists at size 9! GREAT PEOPLE!! Would love for Dreylin to head towards CoL for Caste System... maybe try and persuade him later on!

UPDATE!
I am not going to post all the communications that have been going around - it looks like Dreylin has been updating his thread regularly so most will be there.

My settler is 2t away from founding on the city to the east and I now have 2 workers, one warrior and a work boat - the work boat has found some jumbos!!!!!!
After that city I will plant the one in the opposite direction for copper - the advantage of both these sites is they don't need border pops to work improved tiles and can help grow some cottages.
str 8 + 50% against mounted is as good as it gets against Cataphracts if Dreylin gets frisky - if i can secure them early and build enough - may even have a pop at hime earlier - have to see...

Quote:Krill to me
show details 19:05 (2 hours ago)
18:23 Krill: yeah yeah, you got the email right
it was for PBEm 2 and not the pitboss
damned autofinish on gmail
me: np - haha - what can I do for you then?
18:24 Krill: What information do you have Dreylin?
That you know is 100% correct
18:25 ie number of cities
screenshots of his land etc
and what would you want in exchange fior said infomation?
18:26 me: Rather surprisingly, I don't have any knowledge of his land...
My initial warrior got eaten by a lion on his way to investigate and I haven't sent another one
18:27 I plan to build a dog soldier next that will free up another warrior to explore.
Krill: or you could always explore with the dogsoldier
me: I know where he plans on planting his 2nd city and he hasn't done that yet...
18:28 Other warrior will not have so far to go - I don't plan on pissing him off yet...
18:29 How come this info on Dreylin - are you the other side of him?
btw - congtats on SH!
Krill: Nah
oh, thanks ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif)
Just wondering if he is going for Oracle
me: Dunno although his starting techs lend to it...
18:30 dind you found hindu?
Krill: Yup
So my shrine is due in another 34 turns
me: good turn for the french then!
18:31 There is a chance that I will become Buddhist in this game - would that cause friction with you?
Krill: Not really
18:32 I'll gift you a missionary though, so you can keep that offer on the table
me: cool - I'll bear that in mind.
18:33 What are your thoughts on Darrell?
18:34 He seemed the keenest in the outset to start communications with everyone.
18:35 Krill: See, I'm not so sure
he didn't want to talk about techs
and he really doesn't seem to want to talk to me at all
18:36 me: really?
Krill: Yeah, I've been trying really hard to get him to talk
18:37 But any more and he is liable to just declare war, you know?
me: I see what you mean.
You don't want ot be too pushy
18:39 I should get visibility on Dreylins cities in about 10 turns - perhaps we can talk again around then?
Krill: In 10 turns it'll all be over
18:40 Basically, I want to know if Dreylin is building, or planning o build, Oracle
me: I don't know if I have mentioned in the past but there is still quite a lot of info in the demogs screen... top5 cities etc... last time I checked his cap was size 3
Krill: Yup
me: hope that helps but it is all I can do
18:41 I can potentially send you a shot of his charts each turn... would that be of interest??
What would be in it for me?
18:42 A preferential trade for the tech you oracle?
Krill: Pretty much
me: what do you plan to take?
18:43 MC by any chance?
Krill: Please forgive me for a little paranoia, but I'm not willing to disclose that info right now.
me: no worries
Krill: Oracling MC is a common gambit, true.
18:44 me: On this map its a good gambit..
18:47 Krill: Yup
IIUC, Dreylin is in the far north
me: I wouldn't mind being a part of that so let me put an offer on the table... I send you Dreylins charts each turn (let me know which ones you want) and you build the oracle quicker than he does! I then you trade me the tech you take... (no trade clause of course)
Yes
18:49 Krill: OK
18:51 Let's say I trade you the tech I take up front, for, I dunno, a beaker credit worth 25% of my techs value (rounded down to the nearest 10 beakers or whatever you want) at some point in the future
That seem OK?
18:52 me: 50% and you let me know the tech and we have a deal.
18:53 Krill: With an agreement that you will not tell any other party?
me: ditto
Krill: ok
We have a deal
It is MC
18:54 me: "Shakes hands"
Which graphs would you like?
Krill: MFG, Crop yield
GNP
And score
me: score doesn't work...
Krill: ok
18:55 me: the others are fine.
Krill: forget score
me: I'll load up the save again and get last turns ready...
18:56 Krill: thanks mate
5 minutes
19:02 me: I have met my neighbour the otherside of me also - it is one of the guys from the other island - not yours, seems we are the other side of the map from one another.
19:03 I see this as good news as there shouldn't be any potential conflict for a loong time - I hope we can work well together in the future.
Krill: Yeah, that seems to be pretty good.
19:04 With Dreylin in a rather painful expansion position, you have quite alot of leeway it seems
19:05 thanks for the graphs
me: hopefully. Depends on islands I guess - when sailing comes in the expansion might be a lot different...
19:06 I've got to dash of to the shops. Catch you later! Nice doing business with you!
Krill: cya mate
Well - Metal casting another way and potentially some friendship.
I have considered whether this constitutes breaking the NAP... I can't see anything aggressive in it though... purely passive... Maybe others will read it differently? Not sure.

Had a reply from Ruff - oh yeah - I met Ruff too!

Should they steal all your fish or shall we be friends?

Luff Hi Wrote:Sitting Bull,
It is with great pleasure that Japan has spotted your scouting fishing boat. What brave fishermen you have to scout the see like that. I would love to offer them a safe harbour when and if our two great nations enter into a formal open borders agreement.
It is our hope that we can work together. Our only other contact has proven to be dishonourable.
Regards,
Luff_Hi
OOC: I saw your note and wanted to reply when I had seen the game.
Square Leg Wrote:Hi Luff Hi,
Well met. My sailors are indeed a brave bunch having navigated some savage waters! My wb has traversed your northern border safely and I anticipate that I will find Yaz reasonably soon if your island is as crowded as mine!
I too hope that we may work together in the future - I certainly have no aligence to Yaz or yourself at the moment and am free to be influenced! ;-)
Cheers,
Sitting Bull of the Native Americans
I'll post some more screenies later on.
btw - is anyone still reading this game? I guess there is a lot going on in the Pitboss games but now PBEM1 is done and this one starts to get to more interesting times, the lurkability will increase!
