What does a mistform do?
I have to run.

It's a strong invisible enemy. It can't take cities or pillage improvements, but it can kill absolutely everyone. If it comes this early, it's basically GG. Your cities will sit, empty and without workers. Eventually a passing goblin will put you out of your misery.

The only thing you can do is build warriors, and hope to get lucky in combat. It normally heals up between battles though... and will be getting 99% odds after just a few promos.

How do you gain visibility on it? Will it be visible after an attack so you can counterattack?

Recon units can spot them, including scouts. Hawks, floating eyes, lightbringers, Vicars, and a few other units can see them as well. The Empyrean shrine will reveal any invisible units in your territory.

You can't attack an invisible unit if you can't see it. It wouldn't be too difficult for a player to build a scout and then attack a mistform with warriors, but the issue is being able to build up a force before the mistform can kill enough of your men to become functionally invulnerable through promotions.

Best hope is that it dies trying to attack a city and doesn't get a kill. At strength 6, they aren't guaranteed to win their first combat.

Does that work on mistforms? Interesting. I thought they had "true" invisibility rather than animal invisibility.

Hmm. Pretty sure they can, but now I dunno. Can lightbringers see any invisible unit, or are they set just to reveal animals as well?

I did a quick test and neither Lightbringers nor Scouts can detect Mistforms. Those things have true invisibility, so you have to wait until at least hawks to lay eyes on them.

Interesting. So, uh, how did Sciz see it?

Another barb unit was stacked with it. He got it from the mouseover of the stack, rather than seeing it on the field.

I guess Sciz is doomed. Mistform will be at least Combat II now, and it'll only get more dangerous from here on. His best hope is that it got injured and decides to attack again before it heals up. Or just let it kill all his stuff and pray that it gets bored and runs after someone else.
