I might be interested in trying some MP.

But before I do, I could use some assistance. Upon installing Civ I decided to forego installing Gamespy. Now, when I try to enter multiplayer, nothing happens. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Is there anything I need to install?

It shouldn't make a difference for us; we don't go through gamespy. It's all direct IP.
