Figure that I met someone new a turn after doing the update. I've just met mackoti's team. I think they might be on the other side of me, so I'm trying to be nice to them. Unfortunately, they made contact with plako at the same time, so I'm probably in a diplo duel for mackoti's friendship or something like that.
Quote:Greetings to the Dutch empire.
Our scout has encountered your Iscoada vestica while exploring and thus we have officially made contact. I'm happy to meet you.
Has anything interesting happened to you guys so far this game? I can't say that much has happened to me, well aside from joining in mid-game and a brief encounter with the Chinese, but that's just dealing with the consequences of my predecessor.
If you have any questions or want to chat, I'm happy to answer. (does Google chat work with yahoo? If not do you have a G-mail address so we can chat?)
All the best,
WarriorKnight
In other news, I get the wheel next turn thanks to trade connection. Combined with Athens growing to size 5 next turn as well and my 3rd city getting founded in a few turns I might not be last in score for a while. (speaking of which, why is rego/sunrise near the bottom of the scoreboard like me? surely there isn't another war going on somewhere or something)

Here's where my 3rd city is going next turn:
Quite crappy isn't it? The only reason I'm settling here is for the silver which, thanks to the loss of Sparta's gold and soon-to-be loss of the nearby fur, is the only happiness resource I have nearby. The 2 Deer give this spot some food (one of which I won't be getting for a wile) though so I can work some of the tiles. Long term this spot is going to be bad but that's what happens.

Turns out I've met rego.
Sent off a greeting message to them.
Also the demographics:
Yes I'm first in production. It's not that good though since I don't have anything good to build yet and unit costs are affecting me. I'll still take it though.

rego does not disappoint:

Not much else to say? Who do you think you're dealing with?!?! Don't you read my threads? :-)
So to lend some creedence to the thought that (at least SOMETIMES) I can post things of substance rather than just spam, here's a few of my thoughts / questions.
* I know I'd love to hear some details on what went on with the plako / War(lordDr)riorKnight war. We've heard only bits and pieces and would love to know what exactly went on. Is it true that you gave plako a city for peace?
* Do you know who circumnavigated? Seems awfully early
* If you want to meet SleepingMoogle / locke and I think Lord Parkin and Luddite, you'll want to move your scout 5 tiles north through the jungle and then head east near our borders. If you go north then west that is a dead end, but to the east, you'll meet Moogle shortly (he has a warrior nearby) and Locke is quite aways further to the east.
* Can you direct us to any other civs? That little fork to the east of our units looked to be a dead-end, is that true? What's to the west?
* How far away are you / plako from where we met?
* Okay that was a lot of questions. Sorry for the third degree interrogation - I am happy to share as much as I've asked - you just didn't give me much to go on as to what you wanted :-)

Lot's of questions and info in there. I might as well post my reply so I don't have to repeat myself:
Quote:Hi
I clearly forgot who I was talking to. Sorry for the 'not much to talk about', some teams have that mindset and I (incorrectly) assumed that you were the same way. Anyway, I'm happy to answer questions:
* I know I'd love to hear some details on what went on with the plako / War(lordDr)riorKnight war. We've heard only bits and pieces and would love to know what exactly went on. Is it true that you gave plako a city for peace?
OK, how do I say this? My predecessor wasn't very good at playing the diplo game well and thus got into a war with plako fairly quickly. However, he failed to adequately prepare for it and subsequently when I took over I was forced to give away a city for peace (so yes it's true).
* Do you know who circumnavigated? Seems awfully early
Someone circumnavigated? *Logs in* Oh it happened this turn. Turns out it was plako.
Thanks for the directions, I'll be sure to head that way.
* Can you direct us to any other civs? That little fork to the east of our units looked to be a dead-end, is that true? What's to the west?
No, the fork to the east leads to another sub-continent area. plako has a warrior running around there somewhere as does mackoti (although you've apparently already met them). I'm afraid that I don't know what's to your west though. I've also met Nakor who borders I guess are a long way SW of you, but I don't think he has any units nearby.
* How far away are you / plako from where we met?
A while away, The sub-continent that I talked about has another fork SW, follow it and you'll reach my borders (it'll take about 15-20 turns from where we met with a warrior). You can't get past there without OB as I have a city blocking the path. plako is close by to the west.
* Okay that was a lot of questions. Sorry for the third degree interrogation - I am happy to share as much as I've asked - you just didn't give me much to go on as to what you wanted :-)
Happy to share info with you. I don't have many questions myself that you didn't answer already but I do have this one:
*Who have you met so far? I know of Locke, SleepingMoogle and mackoti but are there any others?
That's all for now,
WarriorKnight
Big news for me is that plako circumnavigated this turn (just what I needed, good thing that won't be relevent for a while) and that SleepingMoogle/Locke is nearby to the north.

rego got the Great Lighthouse. Good for him, I wondered when someone would get it. I'm actually surprised that none of the Industrious civs got it. I knew I had no chance to get it with my start. Unfortunately, that means I'm all alone at the bottom of the scoreboard since I don't have any land points for my second city. Hopefully they'll underestimate me.
Silver will be mined next turn and that should be good for the economy. Also done with be the settler for my 4th city. I'll make sure to get some pics up as well.

OK so I skipped T60 pics since I get pottery on T61 (yay, cheap granaries). I also met SleepingMoogle last turn, only 4 contacts left.
So mini-city overview:
4th city spot:
Another tundra site, but as it'll have horses and fish in the first ring it'll be quick to get set up. Long term I'll probably put Maoi here to get some potential from the tundra. You can also see the spot for my 5th city up the top, as I'm going to put my GP farm there someday.
Yeah, I suck but at least I'm not on 2 cities ( at rego) or 10th in anything.
Tech path is Mysticism (yes! I need monuments for culture in Sparta, Corinth and GP farm to get resources and Charismatic gives them a extra happiness) then Agriculture. Dunno what to go for after that, maybe Writing for scientists.

Any reason you moved the settler 2S from your capital instead of 2SW to get to your planned city site? 2SW plants the city a turn faster, but I guess you're worried about Plako's warrior in your backline.
Also, any plans for cities 6 and onwards?

Yeah, his warrior is the main reason why. We do have an active NAP but given our history I wouldn't trust him to leave it alone. Besides I don't lose any settler turns if I go E/SE next turn and I'll have a warrior guarding it.

None yet. I doubt I'll be able to afford anything past 5 cities for several turns and I want to get my first 5 cities up and running first. One spot I have my eye on is north of Sparta, but I'm not too interested in that until after Construction. I haven't looked at anything after that.

Whoops, didn't notice the 2S/1S1SE was available. Anyways, what's the plan for tile improves, builds and tech choices?

Tile Improvements? Probably ones that connect resources and cottages. Mines and farms may go up in specific situations.
Buildings is simple. First up is a granary, then a monument when I get Mysticism if cultural expansion is needed, then workers/settlers (or barracks/military when I need to grow cities).
As for tech path:
