Well the way I was thinking is that it would allow us to focus on the team first and foremost, and with a journeyman save most of our new recruits are going to be loans or frees so it won't affect recruitment that much. Plus it is slightly more realistic.

It does make things harder for bigger clubss early on though, especially if the real life transfer policy has been brain-dead.

And final bit of info. I'll be playing with 11.3 patch. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be doing this, but I am open on which database to use.

I don't mind not having 1st transfer window budgets turned on, just sayign what I normally do

Settings wise:

Transfer Budgets - yes (We prob won't get much but we will likely need to bring in a few players early doors in the lower leagues)
Key Staff - yes
Real Players - no (Then we can't use knowledge from previous games on good players - relies on proper scouting & searching plus we make our own legends)
Real Fixtures - yes
Attribute Masking - Yes

One other thing - can we not have so many divisions loaded please as I don't want it to run too slow.

I reckon we should decide on which lower league to start with (I vote for English BSP or N/S) and then load just the top 2 divisions in each.

I agree with these settings. No real players will be nice for a SG. And I support choosing a BSP or N/S club.

Ok I'll roll a game with those setting. I'll use a dummy manager and we can pick a team..

Ok I've the game saved and zipped. Link is here. I set us up with a dummy manager just to allow us to make a choice.

Settings were:


I kept the 3rd divisions for Germany and France as they're not big and we were running at 37k people in the db, thought it wouldn't be too bad.

And I just realised I didn't load up the BSS/N

Oh, and look out for John Monaghan a DLC in the Irish squad and at Udinese.

If we are using this save, my first vote for English BSN team to play is:

AFC Wimbledon.

Looks like they have a solid squad with mid-table ambitions. Some of the lower teams seem to have ended up with some really abysmal fake players.

What do you guys reckon?

Great minds think alike TT. I was looking really hard at about half of the clubs. There are some better teams out there, but they all are expected to fight for the title, so more pressure.

Good news! I will have my super laptop back by Friday so I will be able to stay 2nd on the roster & play a full part early doors!

On the team issue - I don't know how on earth Luton will live up to their expected 1st finish with the squad they have!

jeez you must have a great computer brian, i've never gotten higher than a 1.5 star rating on game speed, no matter how small game size I choose

And most of the time I have really big databases since I like being able to see how other leagues are going and also having the option of playing in those leagues

Speaking of that I just started a save with at least one selected country on every continent (2 in south america and like 8 in europe) to do that pentagon challenge thing where you win every continent's champions league. started out with some 2nd division south african team - absolutely rubbish squad
