My votes:
Random leaders
Monarch
Normal Speed
Vassals off
TT off
Huts on
Events off (In reality I would prefer on, but Krill seems to feel strongly about these so I see no point voting them on)
Barbs on
EP ?? need to see Krill's fixes.
B&S map script. Huge size (Also the map setting). Torusland maps are also fine, even if I'd prefer a having "natural" look. Roll few maps, choose best and increase the value of the weakest so that they've at least some early game potential.

Retep was very eager to get spot so I suspect he'll replace AT.

So I tried rolling some Torusland maps, and even with the settings Krill recommended, I still don't like the look of it, everyone's land looks like a tree in winter, long spindly branches everywhere.
Here's an idea I just had: How about I roll a B&S map that has a decent 'real world' look to it and good placement and landmasses, and then copy/paste some solid swathes of Torusland into where the continents already are in the B&S map? That way we have the look and feel everyone likes of the B&B map, the relative balancedness of the Torusland map, and the randomness not completely hand drawn from both. I'd probably only have to do a few minor edits after the copy/paste in too. This seems like it hits on what everyone wants, and avoids the issues of each map type.

...so some players don't just get screwed over on T0 due to placement of competitors (I'd suggest the same of any map though with 18 players as teams in the centre of the map would squeezed in on every side anyway). So killing off random effects and someone getting screwed on T0 means Krill and Plako and maybe me don't neighbor any hyper-newbies, right?

ok, Lewwyn will post our votes in a bit.
I don't want to detour map discussion, but I want to make sure some kind of method for concession is in place. Im not bitter about pb8 anymore, plako has convinced me I had <10% chance to win, but I still want to make sure the mistake isn't repeated. I haven't had time to read the pb8 lurker thread, but if Krill's solution is to have a third party (Brick, or whoever) to go to if you want to concede, or that can gauge how the living players feel, that sounds good to me.
Also, since I think there are some new players here (which is great) I just want to make sure everyone knows the commitment you are making. with 18 players, this game is going to go on for awhile. there probably will be surprise pauses needed. I would say you are probably comitting to 12 months. you may get eliminated sooner, or you may not.
You need to gauge how long it takes you to play a turn too. if it takes you a long time, like me or xenu, for instance, you probably shouldnt sign up for other games. if you just breeze in and play your turn quickly, even in a war (like, say, Azza) then this probably isn't an issue.
also, if you don't have a PB or 2 under your belt I highly recommend getting a teammate or two.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

Map:
I am in favor of heavy editing for balance and fun. Just no mirroring or almost-mirroring (e.g. giving everyone same resources but in different arrangements).
If you use B&S, I suggest using the one I provided for PB8 which turns off the stupid luxury resource rules. I also suggest perhaps editing it to lower the sea level or make the map a bit bigger.
Leader/Civs:
I am in favor of a snake pick, because I think it would be valuable to get some hard data about what traits/civs people like and think are good in RBMod.

+1
Also, I think it needs to be clearly said:
DO NOT DOUBLE MOVE. Not in war, not in peace (because you never know if someone may want to declare war), in no case should you double move if you are around someone and double moving would be done to gain any kind of advantage. If you do then it will end in a game pause and then a reload, so all you'll do is waste everyone's time. So just don't do it.

I agree with Seven, saying "minimal edits" and "make it fair" are incompatible, so I'd rather go with "make as many edits as you think necessary (but no more)."

I'm in favour of random because I have no idea yet (in spite of having played three games to about t100 on the mod and watched a couple of others) and I'm sure that if I did I'd be wrong...
I won't be able to comment on the rest of the choices until my team mate is back in town.

Well if we're down to 17 players, that makes B&S a lot more viable too.
