Can't really give opinion, but my first thought is you are neglecting the fact that you don't have construction, so roads won't work when crossing rivers.

Ah! I should have remembered that. Against AI the early game is just automated and easy. I have to concentrate more.

Thank you. I should have to change my plan slightly in that case. This means the attack is not as good, but will still go ahead. My investment in this is small right now. One chop went into a chariot but not a granary. Thta's it. Of course, I may lose units and I will make an enemy. I still think that him having a strong position means that I might not have him go as crazy as some people do.

This is good to know. Harry, I can lurk you if that is ok? I would not require you to do the same as I know you cant and that is ok.

You're welcome to lurk us - you seem to have a good idea what you're doing and I'll do anything for extra input! But some folks are still looking for team-mates/dedlurkers and they may be unspoilt for this game... Anyway don't let me discourage you - join the thread-spam side! nod

Ok, the war is going on.

This is what the situation looked like at the start

the vulture then used open borders to move onto the forest SW of Eglarest. This made me surprised because I did not expect this. I did not cancel open border because I did not want him to have a guess of my intention. Now his axe is there, he will know I was attacking.

He sent me this:

I think this means he thinks this can give him a ten turn peace treaty. It cant. I thought about accepting, but it would be pointless as I am going to declare war so it is not good for pretending. I also don't think it would be in a good spirit to let him think the game is forcing peace to hide that I can attack. Maybe a lurker can tell him for future?

I declared war and moved onto the forest. Now he knows about the attack I am moving in as quickly as possible because I do not want him to be able to whip a defender. I thought maybe I can move towards him but not declare war but then there is a chance he does not run home. If he goes into Eglarest, he will know that my spearmen are coming too. Now he thinks that chariots will destroy me because axemen and chraiots cant defend them. If he does, I will kill him again.

He tried to get peace next turn. Not while that city is alive. The city was defended by the worst possible outcome. Which is fine because I know this and am ready. Vultures are bad. He has 1 axe and 1 spearmen. Axe have 65% chance to win against vulture. I have 2 axe and chariot.

I am a bit unlucky because first axe loses. Other axe wins at over 90% against spearmen and then my chariot wins at 99% against his vulture. I am happy enough with this.

I lose: 1 chop into a chariot when I wanted it into a granary. The chariot is still alive and useful so this was worth it.
1 axeman.

TT loses: 1 vulture
1 spearmen
1 city
hammers to whatever he was building in the city.

He should take peace now because his military score is bottom by a lot. He still has most cities, same as me. I might be able to kill a second city but the war wouild be messy and I do not want that. I have full culture control on this area now and TT will have to build some military rather than just use shadows everywhere.

He should make city north of the wheat to get the gold if he wants it.

My other cities are all on economic benefit. I have 3 more workers and 1 more settler coming. My military is ok. I have 2 archers, 1 axeman, 1 chariot, 2 spearmen. I have 2 more archers coming soon. Dale is building The Great Lighthouse. It wont be that great because I don't think I get open borders with anyone. It still means at least 2 coin every turn for each coastal town and I want to have 6 at least. I have 3 now and 5 soon.

The lurker thread is very busy and we may have to play the turns again. Wish I could read what is going on!

It is turn 50. I founded Buddhism early and have 6 cities very quickly. all are joined by roads. I didn't have one spread yet. Stupid religion.

This is going well. I said I was a bit annoyed because Buddhism has still not spread. That has not changed. Judaism did though! Not converting to AT's religion.

I expect I will found confician and Christian anyway so no problem. Not sure yet. I am try to find a use for Great Prophet I will get. I can use him to bulb civil service if I get a lot of religious tech but I am not sure this is worth it. I can just research it quite quickly anyway. I think I will try to work some scientists to hope for an academy to go with burecracy.

This is the stats so I am confident right now. Everyone gave me open borders so this has helped because I have currency. Great Lighthouse is finished in 5 turens and then everyone will close borders, but worth it anyway.

This is with research on 100% on priesthood so the figure is higher than real and culture and so on. still nice though. I make gold with 70% research so am expanding a lot soon. 1 island city and 2 that I showed before.

Food lead is only small now because I stopped expanding to build buildings. I have granary in every city and library in each research place.

Quick update. It is turn 60. I have 9 cities and 10 coming next turn. I am building lots of military now to make sure I am safe. I have lots of population for whip so am safe. Next person has 7 cities and it is 5 after that. More then half my cities have basic infrastructure in place (granary and libary)

I have two choices next. I can research theology and in 4 turns, I use my great prophet to bulb civil service and anarchy into hereditary rule, slavery, burecracy and organized religion. This means I get theology tech but this is not that important right now I think.

Or I can have an early golden age and not have anarchy. This also means I can go into religion and use the golden age to get a scientist fast for an academy in the burecracy capital. I like this plan more but I am sure some will tell me that is stupid to use a golden age early.

I attacked Cheater Hater. He is very backwards on all demographics. Only one he has good is power but I have a lot of units and more being made at the moment. I can out produce him about 4 for 1 I think.

I attacked because he left 3 worker unprotected on my border and my chariot was there. I deleted them all even the chariot becauyse he could win them back. He will probably get mad and build prats to attack me. He has iron. So what. They will lose anyway.

I ignored my advice from last turn, I just do not want to waste the golden age. 6 turns is so sad without the wonder. I will tech theology, bulb civil service and I will swap civic after. Religion can wait.

I don't plan to conquer his cities because b4ndit will just jump in and get half anyway. I have ten cities. That is enough for turn 62. My economy is starting to notice the cities. I am only at 50% science without losing money now. 0% for now to save money.
