I especially believe giving centers away for free in "retaliation" would be totally out of character for a player of Scooter's calibre.
Well, I agree that that particular e-mail wouldn't sway me. But Scooter didn't send it to me or you.
I dunno, maybe it's just luck. Maybe it didn't actually work, either - or maybe MJW didn't take it seriously until TT started in on him. We'll find out in a few hours, maybe.

So I think he's lying to scooter and is still working with Rowain- but again, his idiosyncratic style makes it difficult to tell what he's actually planning. As best as I can figure he intends to wipe out T with A and R, and then turn on A with R's help.

TT is concerned about the risk of being in a 2v2, which is only an issue because he himself chooses not to jump aboard the Lepanto train. I think MJW will stay with Rowain, as TT's offer for a Russia-Italy alliance will only become more favourable to Italy after Turkey is destroyed. Not to mention that the only retaliation available to scooter is not against Italy (he can't stop the Ser advance, that's the whole point), but against Russia in Rum.

I didn't even know this was happeing, I lurk forward to lurking.
So, I'm having some trouble following all the moves, but did Twinkletoes decide to clearly backstab Turkey on move 1, then decide maybe he'd help them out and attack Austria instead next turn? That sounds like a good way to end up with no friends by 1902.

Yes, TT decided to stab then decided he wouldn't end up in a good position after the 3v1 so he then played the stab off as a ploy.

Reading up on this game gives me flashbacks to WW1.
I guess in reality, TT is probably one of the more trustworthy players here, but apparently, building trust just isn't his strong suit.
If you know what I mean.

Amazing clash of personalities in the dtay/TT dialogue, both sides pay attention to and bring up as arguments just completely different facts. But after the year 1 moves, dtay does come off as a brazen hustler, whose sole purpose of negotiation is to get the conversing party to do something exploitably against their interests. Like not entering ENG

Looks like MJW missed out on a real treat with those Turkish and Russian moves - continue with A Ser - Bul and Russia bounces in Bud, Italy gets three units looking at Greece with no-one around to support the Austrian fleet, Turkish army is destroyed and Scooter has nothing to dislodge Bul with in the Fall. Italy can then pick its allies between Russia and Austria, probably going with Russia for a very quick evisceration of Rowain and death on the cards for Turkey.

Careful with the questions, Bacchus. They're bordering on leading with you asking about particular armies...

Well, Rowain already acknowledged that he has been stabbed, I would not have been this specific otherwise, but thanks for the heads up.
