And here is the promised picture. Ok, I might have said pictures above ... but I looked at the screenshots that I did take and they were all the same. Boring!
A couple of take aways from the above ... - Capital city name changed to Boston (bringing it in line with this games naming convention)
- Location of possible 2nd city (with city name) put in - Newton
- Scout renamed to 'Paul Revere' (a favorite son of Boston)
Sure ... it might be difficult to see that the scout had his name changed from the pic ... you might just have to take my word for it. He will move to red dot hill next turn.
Oh ... and Mardoc et al joined us as the current score leaders!
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

You should have said, that you didn't want Hunting!
You could go for the northern hut and then come back to red dot for scouting. Still plenty of time before the first settler.
But I guess, that hut is quite safe for some time. Distance between capitals should be on average something like 16-17 tiles based on ~218 tiles per civ, based on the map size, which I read somewhere.

Just logged in to grab some map info. Ideal chatter in the tech thread is that the map is 60x124 (or 7,440 tiles). That would be 232 tiles each. Further, there are 4,706 land tiles or 63.3%). That seems like a map with slightly more water than hinted at in the map requirement comments.
Hmm - speculate that land is 75% ... that would make 6,275 total tiles or 79.2 x 79.2. Upping the total tiles to 6,400 would give us 80x80 or 64x100 or ... etc.
Tech timing ... I have 7 turns left on mining and 17 is the current estimate for Bronze Working. That is 24 turns. Worker will finish in 10, 5 for farming the corn to leave 9 (say 7 for increased tech speed with more population) turns of thumb twiddling.
What to do with those 7 turns? I could mine the plains hill or go and pop the hut. Now that would make for an interesting story ... worker pops hut ... barbarians ensue ... kill worker ... capture Boston.

Hello Lurkers!! Where would I find the American flag dds file?
Edit: Don't worry. I found it. The actual file is packed so you cannot see it. But put something in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Art\Interface\TeamColor' with the right name and you are good to go.
I think I can have some flag fun as the game progresses.

New turn ... finally! Move scout, take screenshots. Done.
Seems that we are deep in the south. That looks like an icy, cold coast down there.

Re worker after farming corn ... move to mine plains hill - that will give me 6 hammers for warrior (2.5 turns) and then scout (2.5 turns) before putting 60% hammer multiplier into settler. I should sandbox that. Maybe. One day.

Maybe I should change my theme from a Boston theme to a New Zealand theme?
Another question is ... where to next for Paul (the scout)? I'm leaning towards 1NW.

Speaking as a New Zealander - not a baad idea.
