Ah, it's fine. Sure I was overwhelmed by work a bit, but I still shouldn't have forgotted about the rule, and losing the chop hammers sounds like a fair punishment.

New acquisitions since I last posted here, Doler and the captured barbarian city of Probar, formerly Chehalis. There're Gold resources NW and NWW of Doler, even though all that desert is quite painful, making the city name appropriate. It, however, makes for a nice buffer zone when/if REM and Tim attack. I might attack the latter myself at Knights, just to have a goal in this game, since I've finished settling what I could settle (there seems to be a small island to the south of the Probar general location, but that's the only thing that remains).

REM played well and managed to grab all of Tim's cities bordering mine, so I am surrounded by his territory now, albeit he is only slightly stronger than me. Also discovered an island south of Poner/Probar and started settling it.

Had relatively good battles around Traer, killing off 4 of REM's Knights. These battles generated a GG for me, which I used to promote Traer's remaining defenders to Formation. This is going to be painful for us both, I think... I won't whip Scouts in order to decrease the city population, but I am prepared to whip whatever actually helps me in this war.

Got surprisingly good rolls this turn while counter-attacking Traer (won a coinflip battle and 5-6 battles >80%, losing only two cats). I derive a lot of sadomasochistic pleasure from all this, actually. 2metra's scouting chariot must be popcorn-ing quite a lot. REM has some muskets and trebuchets reinforcements coming up... probably not enough to save Traer from recapture.
