WW #43 - The Asha'man

Nobody questions me on it but hider has got to be one of the weakest roles out there, yet it does at least provide a slight bit of power to play with which is better than nothing. given it was my 2nd choice that should make it clear what my third was.

Right now there are few things stronger than a doctor, it may be the lure of scum was too strong, what do you say gazglum?

As for Hider, I think that it is a -good- role, but not a very fun one, as it can lead to the player acidently committing suicide. I would probably chuck it for anything else of equalish power.

He had already made a handful of posts and failed to give me a town lean. That's unusual.

Hider is challenging but potentially rewarding, much like the mafia lover role that he spoke so highly of. And the potential to clear other people is there, which he says is his preferred methodology. So that's also worth a poke.

Not really crystal clear, to me. Vanilla town, I guess?

That's what I gather. Hider one of the weakest roles -> 3rd role has to be weaker -> only role weaker than hider is vanilla town

Sorry yes, vanilla town. 3rd because it is dull and boring

In my first reaction I had the order reversed then I realised that the role is exactly fitting for me and sent a correction mail using the order Jabbz had used (copy + paste is easy).

Sorry i an confused, you had 1SG, VT, XXXX and changed it to XXXX, VT, 1SG?

Why VT 2nd not 3rd?

Good morning, Deadline appears to be at 3 am for me...

So I guess people are claiming their anonymous discards? I don't know that it helps, but I do agree it gives us something to talk about. My anonymous discard was a mafia goon. Same as Meiz apparently. Welcome back to Werewolf Meiz!

Scum can say whatever will make them look the best or seem the most plausible, and there's no way we will ever be able to catch them in a lie. So, how much do we really gain from having everyone claim their anonymous discards? Now that I think about it, it seems like a distraction to muddy the waters and get us leaning towards falsely-clearing scum that offer plausible-sounding anonymous discard choices.

Obviously we shouldn't take anybody's claim for their anonymous discard at face value. And obviously we will never catch them in a lie this way. But I think its great! The purpose is to get people talking. You can't catch scum if they aren't put on the spot sometimes even if they are telling the truth. If everyone goes into knowing that, then it shouldn't muddy the waters. Why would people be clearing anyone. Are you arguing that we shouldn't be claiming our anonymous discards?

Reviewing the day, I have to say that AdrienIer's questioning of me seems opportunistic and slightly telling as to his actual motives. From his responses it sounds like he enjoys risk, and isn't deliberately picking scum the most risky play of all? Also, my anonymous discard was yet another Hider, apparently the RNG wants someone to play them. I didn't because the role requires a high degree of certainty in one's reads, and as a new player I feel I would just end up hiding behind someone random and then dying.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!

The discussion about the secret roles would come anyway and better to start it now. The longer scum has time the easier they can come up with claims if they threw away powerroles.

I totally get this, but scum could just as easily want to get in there first. I mean it shouldn't cost scum anything to claim this role.

But:

It is my intention to claim it around lynch-time (either before or after depending what I deem better) so I'm very interested to learn what was the reason for zak to discard it and what was his 2nd discarded role.

Are you saying you are going to claim your actual role around lynch time? Or that you mean you WERE going to claim your 2nd discard around lynch time but changed your mind?
