First round: Every player get 3 civs and 3 leaders to choose from. You can keep both, either or none of them.
Second round: Every player that has not chosen a civ, a leader or both gets 2 new choices of that category.
Third round: Every player still left without a civ/leader gets 1 of that category and has to stick with it.

I'm just a lurker for this one, but please don't do this to yourselves.  Someone will get Pacal, and someone (maybe even the same person) will get China or Egypt, while some other player never rolls a leader without Pro or Agg or Cha and/or gets nothing but trash tier civs.  The "RPS" system was created for enormous games of RtR, when there weren't enough different civs to give each player more than one choice per round, so someone with a choice they hated could pick over the other players' leavings as well.  Using it in a small game of hilariously unbalanced BtS with less than the maximum number of available civs and leaders for each player each round is rife with problems.  At a minimum, if you want to do any kind of randomization, I'd suggest you remove any leader that has one of the two or three best or worst traits without having one from each end, and eliminating bottom-feeder civs from consideration (America, Germany, and Celtia spring immediately to mind) along with the two at the top, so nobody ends up with a pick list of which one or more are de-facto blanks.  If you end up with just five players though, why not at least give everyone a choice of five leaders and five civs each round?  If you want a game in which players pick anyone other than the usual suspects, you need to remove the usuals altogether, or else the players forced to do without them will start with a huge disadvantage.

Hello,

If you're accepting more players, I'd like to sign-up to play in a Pitboss. I was very active at CFC during Civ II, Civ III, and Civ IV, but lost interest in the Civ series with the introduction of one unit per turn. I've played in a few Pitboss games before, but it has been awhile for me.

Hi, RegentMan, welcome to the game and to the forum! With you we now have six players, I would like to wait a couple more days and see if we can find one more - I believe that seven players is a good number. Settings for the game are partly in the very first post, partly under discussion: we do not play many BTS games here nowadays as we mostly use a balance mod, specifically designed for multiplayer. So, it is not that we have any firmly established traditions in respect to how to play BTS games.
Please, see this thread: https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=7311 for a collection of rules we try to follow in pitboss games here. Most important of them, I think, is that double-moves during the war are strictly forbidden and whipping and changing production/research counts as movement. If you have any questions, please ask.

Hey Regentman! I think I remember playing in a Civ 3 or 4 succession game with you way back when.

Hi Gavagai, thank you! I read through the etiquette thread and all seem fair enough. Settings look fine here, too. I'd only ask that we'd have a regular ancient start- I've never tried a non-ancient start! Otherwise doughnut or pangaea sound good to me.

If we are using that mod, could I have a link to download?

Hey T-hawk! Yeah, I remember something with you way back when. It certainly has been a few years... cool

This particular game is played without any mod. Downloading our mod without relation to any particular game does not make much sense because we tweak it constantly. This is our last stable version, I think: https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/show...p?tid=9437

I think we have four questions we still need to solve:
1) Pick method. Al mentioned something called "snake pick with ponts" how does that work? Sounds like something I want to try.
2) Mapscript. I thought about it a bit, I am actually fine with Pangea. Same reason as Al - PB41 was all about naval warfare smile
3) Corporations. Do we ban them? My vote is no ban but no strong opinion. The game is very unlikely to last until corps.
4) Apostolic Palace. We need to choose between three options:
- just ban AP victory (like it is now proposed);
- ban the wonder itself;
- ban all resolutions but allow the wonder (for hammers).
My vote is for just banning AP victory.

And 5) City gifting. I assume we ban peaceful transfers of cities and units but do we allow it in peace treaties?

1) something like http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showt...#pid585905 or http://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/showt...#pid561510. Personally I would prefer a simpler system of 70.

3) My vote is no ban.

4) Allowed to only build AP for hammers, no resolutions.

5) Not sure if only allowing city gifting as part of peace treaties is enforceable. need to sleep on it.
