Should we try to get Ruff and Krill in a bidding war on our Great Prophet?

Quote:DJ Civ,

I will not be able to make Krill's party <sniff>.

Regarding your alliance comment - I totally agree. A smaller, core, rock solid alliance supported by a wider tech trading cartel is definitely the way to go. So far, I have met ...

you
Exploit
Inca (off to my West)

... and I know that other teams have met ...

Krill
HRE
SsS

The only player that I wouldn't trust to form a strong inner alliance with is Krill. Don't get me wrong, I think it is good value and a very strong civ player, but he is just too slipper - always seeking to play others off against each other. To me, that is not what you want in a long term trusted partner. You want a team that will sometimes take a hit to advance another civ that ultimately advances the whole group.

So, who do you see as being options for our inner core?

Okay guys - timer is ticking down. And of course by timer, I mean the "Krill IM telling you that you're almost the last team to play timer" lol

The actual real timer has more than 12 hours on it.

So here are my thoughts on what to do.

1) Build in capital - start another warrior, then when we get to size 3, swap to a worker and
2) the worker that is on the recently mined tile go 1NE and chop a forest at the capital into that worker.
3) Worker farms the tile that has 2t into it already, to give us a 3rd improved tile. Granted it's not great at 3/0/1, but we're currently making 8cpt at even gold (60%)
4) Other worker continues the chop.

Warrior in Happy Hour moves west - we're summitting with Dantski and Rome that way. The warrior built in the capital can head to Happy Hour if/when needed.

Remember barb warriors are going to start coming into play before too long. I think it's when half the civs have 2 cities they spawn (which has already happened) and when half the civs have 3 cities they enter borders (which won't be far behind)

I won't be able to play this till later, so if someone else is around, feel free to play.

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO GET A SCREENGRAB OF THE DEMOGRAPHICS SCREEN!

Also just for the record, this is a conversation that I had with Krill, when he was bugging us about playing. I asked him what we should build and he said

Quote:new.mail.storage: 3 teams to go btw, you DIM (Ilios will play in the next few hours)
and TMIT

me: dun dun dun
new.mail.storage: When I don;t tell uyou of these things you tend to forget to play
me: what do you think we should build then?
another settler? uber fast expansion? :-D
new.mail.storage: Do that and I'll be severely pissed at you
me: smile
new.mail.storage: I suppose I wouldn't mind if you stopped at 3 cities
But you don;t have cottages
to grow
nor a commerce tile like gold
And you want the Wheel, right?
to get those chariots a rolling
me: right
new.mail.storage: If you got a third city what are you going to do with it?
me: build cottages?
new.mail.storage: without pottery?
get a third worker
you have pigs and horses to hook up
and you could always irrigate a bit and slave out later on with teh extra pop
and they will be river tiles so you'll get the +1 commerce at least
and you need 1 warrior for defence, 1 warrior to head west
so you might need another warrior
Your capital is what, size 2 now?
got everything hooked up there/
both foods need to be hooked, but it could probably do with another farm tio speed it to size 5, then size 6 and triple whip out a settler
sure you don;t have a granary, but what else are you going to build?
I suppose you could throw 5 chariots at Exploit and try to criple/choke him
but youi don;t want that land because it is too expensive to hold, but killing him early could help you long term.
couold build hte chariots on the way to size 6, then plant a forward city for that stone/flood plains

Also Diplomat Sunrise! we need to decide how we're going to reply to Ruff.

Really tthat goes for the whole team - do we want to ally with ruff or Krill in our secret alliance. Ruff doesn't really want Krill in it, so we need to pick one, or try and convince Ruff to let Krill in? Or we have some sort of 3-tiered alliance?

But we should probably invite Ruff into the overall tech alliance - we need that flank secure

I'm going to be unavailable to play the turn tonight, but can probably play in the morning.

I think the Workers should be chopping and building Mines until we get AH and The Wheel. A Farm would be my third choice since long term I don't see us working it.

I played our turn - swapped to a warrior in the capital and chopped with both workers.

Our northern warrior, Hurricane, DIED TO A BARB LION @ 21% ODDS

We are getting slaughtered by these lions frown

Man that sucks...I guess we'll need another one.

I played our turn. Chop came in on the settler in Happy Hour, and since we lost Hurricane, I continued to build warrior in the capital (due in 4 I think). Capital grew to size 3.

I missed it...did we revolt to slavery?
