Hey Slaze,

Just wanted to say well done for continuing. I still think that you can make a fight of this and I would love to see you trying! thumbsup

Maybe setting yourself smaller goals to achieve is a good way to move forward from here after a horrible back-stab.

Good luck!

Well, one goal i'd like to set is a hammer for hammer cost for him expanding through me, and so far that is met - after turn 1 of this war it cost him 4 cats to take out 4 longbow (although he did gain experience on the clean-up of those longbow).

Good news: Athlete loves to split up his stacks - if i had the units (which i will as this thing rolls on) i could pick off some of these, but we'll see what he does - there's a good set of hills running down my land so he could stick to that (but will probably not).

Bad news: he's got guilds in 2 (and prolly gunpowder right after). Hard to attack stacks led by knights and janns with strength 6 troops. (although so far only 1 single mace in the mix as far as medival goes ... so far).

So he took the first two border cities but has holed up here. Most of my army has caught up and I'm set up to make a counterattack. He's got those 6 longbowmen which will probably lead the defense versus my 9 cats. He's got 1 mace in the city and the money to upgrade up to 5 axes into maces next turn. I have 27 strength 6 units, the stack shown plus 7 HA and 1-2 chariot.

Wow that will be a nice bloody battle.

No battle yet, but here's the next turn:

And a close up:

He abandoned the city but I didn't take it. All those units (top left in top picture) moved into the forest taking themselves out of the action for a few turns. My longbow/cat stack moved onto the hill (bottom right in top picture) and will be facing the other three top stacks. You'll notice the lack of axes; I'll be looking to use my quechas here, if possible. And the the last stack, the mounted, can be roaded to threaten his inner sea city for next turn.

I would have prefered to go against that other stack if it was holed in the city but he didn't give it to me. I can probably take my other city back though am a little worried about the cat v defending knight battle; if he promotes more HA i'll prolly lose many cats, and may be vulnerable to his forest stack thereafter. But taking back my city gives me the original border, the one tile buffer.

But he gets gunpowder next turn. Looks tough.

Little bit.

I got the shots, just haven't had the time to put it together. Until then, here's a singtle of the lastest events.

He's also got 2 catapults and a single Longbow in the city, astray knight or two and a cat plus whipping. I'll be there in two; I think this one's gonna get taken. We'll see ... it may be at great cost, we'll have to see how the battles go.
