So, my fellow Calvin and Hobbes friend, you are in the right place. I'll keep on posting the comics until I manage to defeat all my oponents in this game.

Yes, I'll be posting them for a long time...

Thanks! I'm glad people are liking the thread.

By the way, it seems there's an intruder logging in to our pitboss account, according to the civstats. Check it out!

Ichabod Wrote:Yup, I've only had contact with him for 75% of the game and I never switched the EPs (kept the focus on him) until last turn. He met people way earlier and never focused on us.

well I guess thats useful then! I'm guessing you moved your ep's over to Rome?

I thought you would need electricity to get vision, but I guess thats only for cities in the fog, and you had actually explored sunrise's capital?

We had only seen the central tile through the lake early in the game, but the espionage gave us a lot of vision. I am going to build a spy next in the capital and explore Sunrise's land. Each city I reveal will then gain vision, which will be very nice.

And we can try to steal something too!

Yup!

It's pretty clear that he will understand what Im trying to say, right?

I'm pretty sure everyone will understand, more or less, what you're trying to say, considering that Missionaries can't convert enemy cities in an AW game. smile

I agree with the western moves. I suggest parking a Spear/Skirmisher pair strategically on a forested/jungled hill.

Me too.

I'm also very much in favor of the hilltop exploration crew.

Turn 375 BC:

First and most importantly, I haven't finished this turn yet, because we need to make some decisions as a team. There's two main issues to discuss. After we reached a decision, then I kindly ask that one of you guys log in, do the moves and end turn, because I haven't done so.

So, let's take a look at the situations at hand:

1st. The Attacking Hill Squads:

The deal here is the following: we need cool names for our units, before we send them closer to Roman land. Un-named units are just bleh...

No, that's not our problem, our problem is this:

The roman chariot is positioned in a way that make my prefered move of both attack groups staging in the ph forest a bad move. It'd leave an open road for the chariot to get near envy. We could let the 7xp skirm there to defend, but if he happens to lose, we'd be up for some trouble.

So, I think we should do the following:

Move the fresh Skirm + the Spear in the direction shown above. The 7xp Skirm stays put. Rome will have two options: run away (they can't go far due to bad terrain) or attack our 7xp Skirm. He'd have +80% odds on the battle, so I think it's worth the risk for getting and HE unit. If he dies, we kill the Roman chariot either way.

If the Roman chariot moves to any of the red dots in the SS, we kill them and that's it.

So, this blue group would be the one that would explore north, while the other group would keep south. The 7xp Skirm would keep up for defense in our land.

So, do you guys agree with these moves?

2nd. Operation Revenge is a dish best served wet:

So, Envy is almost finishing a galley. We can use it for defense or exploration, both valid uses, but I'm planning something more interesting, like I've previously stated: an amphibious attack on Rome.

Let's see how things are shaping up:

1. Envy will finish the galley, no matter what (2 scientists worked starting next turn):

Nothing much to discuss here.

2. Sloth, the capital, will finish a settler. I intend to escort him to the plains tile to the west, like previously talked. But that's not what we are discussing here:

You can see that the city received a chop and it'll have massive overflow next turn. I thought about some things we could possibly do with it:

1. Build a worker, since we need them (wisest, most boring option).
2. Build a spy, to explore Sunrise and get city visibility on his whole empire (average wise, average interesting option).
3. Build an axe/sword to load that galley with something (stupidest, most fun option)

So, what do you think? I really think an amphibious attack could be interesting, even getting us some gold. If we do so, should we get an axe or a sword (keep in mind that Acedia will be whipping an axe, so either 2 axes or 1 axe/ 1 sword pairs).

3. Acedia is resolute in its mission to finish the Moai Statues, and the best way to do it is through chops/whips. So, I plan to whip something when the city reaches size 4 and greatly overflow into the Moai. The city will grow next turn, so I plan to invest 4 hammers into a axeman (4/35) and whip it in the turn afterwards, getting a nice 29h overflow into the Moai statues.

Axeman/Spearman are clearly the best things to whip for the purpose of quick overflow, so the only question is if we keep it defending our lands or chug him into a galley to go die a vanglorious death...

So, the second big question is: do we want to make the amphibious attack on Rome? I vote yes. What about you guys? If you don't want, what do you think we should put the overflow that we will get from Sloth?

That chariot still has full movement available, so we need to watch for a potential double move. Nonetheless, I think we'd be very well advised to clear the stupid chariots off those flatlands. They'd be much less scary in the heavy terrain to the west. So, yes, I agree with move 1.

On question 2, I'll be the guy who votes for the boring, safe option. I don't know much about Tatan, but I think Serdoa and Nakor are the types to try to teach us a lesson with praets if we boat one of their cities. I think our best move is to establish a solid defensive perimeter against them, by planting a couple well-garrisoned and well-roaded cities, then sit back and kill their scouts.

Building some spies is a very good idea, but I think filling up our territory is a higher priority.

I forgot to advise you to move a Worker pair to the front. Instant road + Spearman vs Chariot = dead Chariot. duh

Otherwise I agree with your moves, with the caveat that all four units should converge on a single tile (preferably hill forest/jungle), and then we decide where to move next.

I'll take a position between you and DaveV. We prepare for an amphibious assault, but only move in if they piss us off some more.

I'll go for boring, we absolutely need more Workers, so my vote goes to that. Could we maybe do Worker (whip to size 8, removing the lake tile) - Worker - Spy?

Acedia should whip the axeman. Could you slow build one more somewhere? In case anyone shows up with Swords...

Par contre, this is making me nervous:

That Worker is ready to be sniped, and Lust isn't easy to reinforce, so just leaving a Skirmisher near the guy with War Chariots seems,... dangerous?

Oh, and Rome have ended their turn, so we could double move them, should we be [strike]assholes[/strike] willing...
