Guys, stop with the name claiming. If Lewwyn's telling the truth, surely the other alien has been given a safe name to claim, and may in fact have claimed it already. If we have a name seer they will get the true name and can just cry wolf when they find it. So I don't see how further name claims are going to help at this point.

I do have some sort of title/position in a similar manner to Tansuke's thinker. No I am not going to claim it as it would hint at my power

Are you sure about that novice? I am not. I am not sure the wolf has a save name to claim. Why should he? Who could expect Lewwyn to come forward with that? I mean honestly, if the power of Lewwyn is just to know that name xxx is a wolf but we need a name seer to actually find out the name then this information could as well have been thrown out to us already without giving it only to Lewwyn. If I would be Lewwyn I would feel betrayed in that case because I am basically told an information I need to give out immediately. That doesn't seem to make sense if you think it through. The right play in that case would be to just start the game with telling "I know that name xxx is a wolf", confirming yourself in the process as villager (if you are believed or name xxx is found).

Anyhow, most of us have stated their name already - I wonder why you are for the last 5 against it? Especially in a way that should make you a clear target for the wolves now as it seems you have something valuable to hide. No, I still would like everyone to claim and I believe not doing now when we are nearly through is just a sign that you are a wolf.

Thats fine with me for now. I just wanted to confirm first that their is a title. Maybe we can find out more later on after everyone has claimed his name. After all we should only get faction leaders by now I believe.

Serdoa, I picked up this post yesterday, but mainly because why wouldn't novice read the link provided or do a 20-second search about this game he joined up in? Found that a bit curious, and given recent alien developements might be more important

Everything else that Lewwyn said? I find it irrevocably tainted by its source. Aliens are not trustworthy. Anything he says is inevitably going to be part of some alien scheme.

Why? Do you believe someone will come forward and claim to be the Usurper? Why not just let our name seer, if we have one, do his thing?

@Serdoa. We are not "nearly through" with a mass name claim. We have a bunch of "nameless" claims, which isn't going to fly. I believe everybody has a role name, even if it isn't the name of a faction leader. Tasunke's role name was "Thinker". I have something similar. That is, I'm not a faction leader.

If we really do want to proceed with a mass name claim, we should try (quickly) to reach a consensus first, and agree on a rough order in which people should claim. I'm still not convinced there's more to gain than there is to lose. (More than one player is showing reluctance to claim.)

For those unaware of the fluff by the way, there are two "Progenitor" alien factions in Alpha Centauri:Alien Crossfire. The Planetary Caretakers aim to prevent anybody from achieving transcendence, to wipe out the Usurpers and to build communication pylons to take the 6th Manifold(Chiron) under the supervision of their homefleet. Humans are tools with which to achieve that ambition, and are to be wiped out once it has been achieved. Most forms of human victory are impossible in Alpha Centauri while either Progenitor Faction is still in play.

The Planetary Usurpers, led by Marr, are the other alien faction. They seek to achieve Transcendence rather than stop it, but are equally as unhelpful to humanity.

Selrahc, do you have a source for the passage I bolded? "Caretaker" sounds a lot less evil than "Usurper", to me.

indeed pindi. Im curious as to why the howl of pain you uttered upon receiving the blow sounded so practiced. Like howling was second nature.

And rather than taking apart how silly his logic was (like, why would a wolf need to practice how to howl in pain for it to be second nature?) I threw back a little sarcasm.

This is a curiously defensive reaction. I have a hard time seeing how you could read Waterbat's "attack" here as anything but a joke. So there should be no need to take apart his "logic" or throw back sarcasm.

That said, I'm still going to put my vote down for Waterbat, because of this:

Ayfkm? "Shoddy reasoning"? I obviously was joking. There aren't any wolves here anyway - just evil conspirators. When I use shoddy reasoning, you'll know it. Unless I die tonight, in which case you won't know it until you join me in the lurker thread.

The "Unless I die tonight" looks very forced to me. I also don't like how he hung around "impatiently" for the night results, but then slipped away without actually casting a vote for anyone.
