Robern grabs Kile's arm and yanks him to his feet.

Niall grabs Kile's other arm and helps carry him out to the passageway. There he pauses, with a word to Robern, and picks up the crossbow he deposited earlier before carrying on.

With Robern and Nial carrying Kile and Lucas carrying the chest Anya takes the lead. She makes sure that the monster in the pond doesn't attack her companions before heading through the passage. She casts her "light" spell and walks until her senses tell her that they are above see level.

With a violent eruption of spray, the sea flows out of the stairwell and into the main cavern. Moving carefully in the treacherous shallow water, you pick your way back to the door and up through the passage. At last, you reach the fork and pause, listening to the thundering sound of the water. You see the tide come in up both sides of the fork, but the water doesn't reach your resting place.

Well I think we have missed our opportunity to explore that branch of the tunnel whatever it held. Does everybody have what they came to this place to find out?

Myself I believe the answer rests in this chest, does anybody have any new thoughts on how to open it?

With that said Lucas puts down the chest and finally takes the time to study the documents he picked up in his rush

Before we go out I'd like to ask Kile what exactly happened to him, just in case he found something we didn't.

Niall's jaw clenches. If we'd taken all that time exploring that passage instead of this one .... 'Yes,' he answers Lucas' question. He sets his brother down against the wall. 'Can you tell us what all happened to you, Kile?'

[Commodore]

 'Can you tell us what all happened to you, Kile?'

Kile looks completely spent, but he nods. Of course. I saw the hole and climbed down the pulleys, like you must have. I came to an opening, but the shaft went lower so I went the rest of the way down. There was an underground lake there, with an elevator at the bottom and stairs that led up. In the middle of the lake was some kind of odd wooden contraption. I was going to investigate more but there were lights coming so I hid in the shadows in the corner. Two humans and that damned dwarf were leading a goat to the lake; they staked the poor thing there by the water and...something...just yanked it in. I must of made some noise because the dwarf looked right at me. And then... Kile shudders and holds his face in his hands, weeping.

The papers Lucas holds are a strange mixture; all written in dwarven, some are scrambled and look like poetry, while others are neat and firm engineering notes. There are schematics for an odd boat that is completely enclosed; on the boat-thing's prow is a drill. Perhaps this contraption was used to sink those ships?

The notes appear to be in Dwarvish, does anybody read that language? Lucas says gesturing tot he papers he picked up

Can I read the engineering drawings enough to know if the drag marks on the beach could match it?
