Square Leg is Garrim Gyrrrrrrr - An Angry Dwarf

Yes, if Bob has used his world spell, it would say there "a player has cast *world spell*".

(Didn't think this would affect the game since it's easily checked anyways).

I could have used that event frown.

It actually only reduced the AC by 1 - the max AC count is over 100.... I didn't explain that very well... I'll take a SS next turn for those that are interested.... bang

So DaveV is covering for Bob while he gets a new hard drive. Good news that the game keeps moving!

plako - I will be away 7 - 21 July on holiday - would you be able to cover any of that period?
Reply

yeah. I should be able to play.

Great! I'll put together some seblance of a plan when it gets a little nearer.

I forgot to take a shot of the AC but I dove into Pocketbeetles thread to grab this shot:

This shows that the AC is actually a %age. So my event only decreased the numerator of the fraction by 2, and thus the %age only decrased by 1%.

I must remember to look a little more carefully at the AC in future turns. The blight unhealthiness will hit me hard unless I have the tech, and religion to counter is. I feel the best way to deal with it is going to be to slip into Sacrifice the weak and maybe Pacifism - pop a GE or a GS and hopefully not starve. Just need to be ready really.

The other option was 61g for a supplies.

Nevermind - It is just one of those things! Someone was 1g short in one of these PBEMs - no name mentioned! wink

I got the Sailing splashscreen and learnt something about the lighthouse in ffh that I didn't already know:

+1 trade routes! Didn't know that.

Next I dialled up Cartography at 60% and making about 30gpt for a 2t research. I need it to get OB with Bob and the disciple of leaves.

T118

Demogs at 60% research.

Last in mfg now! lol mainly because I am working farms to grow into the happy cap. GNP is actually a good way ahead of Iskender now. Looks like he has been running binary research by his graphs and my sustainable research is better than his max research. Go Go financial!

Pretty poor in food at the moment but that is due to not having as many cities as the others. I expect hat to rise as I found a couple more cities and they all grow.

I have Mud golems running around trying to improve everything in time for growth, but naturally I am struggling. I think I have 5 or 6 and another one in production due in 4t. Will need another one out asap at least...

Having said that, Totoro/Valley of the Wind/Kobe are almost as improved as they need to be for now and so all work will be concerntrating on the new cities within 2-3t.

After Carto, which was done at the end of this turn - full steam ahead on Trade - should be 4t but may be able to get it in 3t - I'm founding a new city next turn.

FFH PBEM 2 Spoiler except for Uberfish

uberfish Wrote:Blind wore off most of Hyborem's Manes and they fled deeper into Infernal lands. Due to the annoying war weariness situation, I decided not to pursue, although I picked off a few stragglers to get Adepts some experience. Note the way Blind works, enemy units hit by it are paralyzed for 1 turn and always get to move on the next. The reason is that you can't overwrite the status "cannot move (1)" with "cannot move(2)". So although immobilization is still a powerful tactical advantage, you can't actually freeze a stack forever.

I'll say it in your thread too - thank you for an excellent read and a very educational thread. I am copying this for my reference as I plan to use blind in the upcoming turns.

feck - I forgot to upload my shots again.

From memory - and I was drinking last night:

Founded another city near the old Ultigar site and named it "Howls Castle" A chop will complete next turn into its monument and the disciple of leaves is heading there for a little extra culture - being pressed up against the clan borders I am keen for this city to get as much culture as possible. It will then complete a market.

I got the Carto splashscreen and an OB request from the Clowns which I accepted.

Barny has been wandering around in the south and had 58% odds on a barb archer in the city - I didn't risk it and have sent some warriors down to soften it up. There is only 1 archer so potentially some cp there to gain once the archer is down.

Trade (3t) was dialled up at 100% research. T119 +136bpt -11gpt (100% slider) compared to T114 +89bpt @ -6gpt 90% slider.

Thats a pretty good 5t improvement if you ask me!

RoK got 2 more free spreads too! jive

16:02 Square Leg: Meh - work is always there - what can you do?
Iwas wondering what you were doing on or around t140 and if you would fancy some fighting side by side
16:03 Serdoa: uh, I guess I would play my turn in like 10 seconds, 5 of those used to curse the map wink what did you have in mind?
16:04 Square Leg: well...
The clan will shortly be engaging the clowns in a war
16:05 T120 I understand
Serdoa: ah, they asked for a mana loan and I wondered why
Square Leg: Bob tells me you are going to lend him death mana to help deal with them.
16:06 His plan is to basically summon a shit load of troops in puppets and skeletons to soak up the fire elementals from the sons of the inferno
It will probably work tbh
to an extent
I imagine they will hit some sort of stalemate.
Either way, it will bog them both down for quite a long time
16:07 Serdoa: at least if the clan doesn't get help from someone else yes.
Square Leg: Well - I don't have a nap with Bob atm but I don't really want to see the clan get any stronger
I do have a nap with the clan though - until T140
16:08 I would like to try my luck in hitting the clan as soon after t140 as possible
Serdoa: ok sounds interesting. what do you need of me?
16:09 Square Leg: well - mainly to see if you would be interested in having some fun in joining in.
16:12 Serdoa: well, sure why not. not sure if I am actually really able to provide all that much in regards to troops but that surely sounds more exiting then hitting another 100 turns end turn just to wait for someone to actually get rid of my civ wink
16:14 Square Leg: cool - I don't think I will be in any position to act sooner anyway - still trying to re-build as quickly as possible!
Serdoa: sent you the turn
16:15 Square Leg: I think a lot will depend on how the fight goes between the clan and the Blaseraph - jumping on the back of a war is a cheap way of getting land - if the clan do well we could maybe mop up some of the balseraph cities...
They would fit into your empire nicely
I plan on being a bit of a vulture in respect to their conflict! wink
16:16 need to if we're going to get anywhere in this game!
16:18 Serdoa: well thats true. at least for you and I will happily help you with that. Have to check though if I have a NAP with Bob or not - I think I do not. Anyway, as I said, I happily help you as much as I can but for myself I don't see me getting anywhere anyway as my core lands are just not able to compete in the slightest with what anyone else got. Ah, enough of that. You just let me know what you plan and I support as much as I can.
16:20 Square Leg: Ok - I want for you to get something from whatever we do be that land/gold or something. It isn't really fair on the others otherwise. But, ultimately we should have fun with the game so if that is all you want, i'll take it!
16:21 ;
wink
16:22 Serdoa: it's fine. If we do take Bob then I'll get land anyway as it mostly doesn't make much sense for you to take it and if we take the Clan you get if. And if we take both we get both. Though as I said I assume that the clan is not alone and I also assume that he has more then 3-4 sons.
16:26 Square Leg: brb
16:27 He has 4 sons
Bob managed to get metamagic from sareln before he died and so has an adept who can cast floating eye
16:28 so he has seen them and told me there are 4
this tally's with what sareln said before he died
16:29 Serdoa: well, at least thats a relieve I guess. 4 is doable ... uhm, for Bob... maybe
Square Leg: well - I have a plan to found Empyrean
and then use the sun2 spell to blind them
16:30 then hit them with as much as possible since they can't attack or cast for 2t
Serdoa: does it work on them? how many do you need factoring in resists?
Square Leg: Quite a few.
16:31 I will send you a mail with the resist rates etc...
Serdoa: kk
Square Leg: Do you have horse?
16:32 I don't and need it for Ratha's
Serdoa: yes, and my horse is amazing :P
16:33 Square Leg: lol - that song has been in my head for ages!
pisses my wife off no end! smile
Serdoa: same for me since some weeks now
16:34 if you need the horse, just ask for it. Don't think I will need it for something for the next ...uh, 70 turns or so...
16:36 Square Leg: ok - thats cool - Ironically the clan actually owe me horse from about t30 when we agreed a settling rights! I might request it to build units to then hit them with! lol
16:37 Serdoa: lol, great idea, I am sure they will appreciate the irony wink

Serdoa and I are conspiring to attack either the Balseraph or Clan later down the line....

Seems Serdoa is not that interested in this game at the moment which is a shame. I feel bad to use like a mercenary - well - as you can see from the chat - he just offers stuff so he isn't even a mercenary! More a vassal... It isn't right for the other players in this game. I will be offering him some compensation for his help if there are any rewards to share.

What do the Lurkers think? huh

EDIT - and I realise that there are lots of extra tags in that chat - I can't be arsed to fix it.

Serdoa has a quite long track record of giving up and playing along with his B-game. It has negative effects to the game balance, but I wouldn't feel too bad about taking advantage of that. He certainly isn't only one in these games having similar tendencies. Desparate situation will effect one way or the other to everyones intrest level.

Another point is also that your good diplomacy and fierce fight have certainly affected to his view on you and his willingness to help you. So I would say that you've earned his respect legitimately. If you wouldn't have succeeded in your diplomacy, I'm sure he wouldn't be helping you out.
