Ahahahaha...whoops! I read it as two Scientists when I took the snapshot and that was plainly not true: Scientist and a Merchant!

We also met Wetbandit today (I know I was doing funny profiles for new people I met...but I couldn't come up with anything funny for Wetbandit or Azza, or at least was too tired to for Azza, so they just get generic being metness. I should do a TF2 thing for Azza later):

He has 6 cities to our 7 (soon to be 8), but his are probably better developed. We might be able to eventually edge past him. Hard to say.

After that was, hopefully, our last whip cycle for a bit: Sam Walton whipped a Settler, Vanderbilt whipped a Hindu Missionary and will overflow 28 hammers into another Missionary, which will help get us going. The first Missionary will head to Standard Oil for happiness, the second will probably head to John Dodge for similiar happiness purposes. Vanderbilt will finish a Lighthouse, due to the Organized Religion bonus and the fact that the food on the Clams (And having a lot more 2-food options with so many Plains) will be helpfully, then it'll probably pump out Missionaries for quite a while.

John Dodge finished making it's Worker, which will go to improve the Wheat: The two grouped Workers will work on finishing the last piece of the road puzzle, after which they'll start mining for John Dodge in preparation of building Moai. Another reason I want the second in John Dodge: 25% production on Moai would be real useful right about now!

John Dodge has been put on a Library for now (Wasn't sure whether to do that or just plain start on Moai right now. BaII, Lurkers, thoughts?). With David Buick's Axe done (It'll go cover Horace Dodge, which is being threatened by a Spear, then the Spear that is going to cover Horace, since the Axe would be 1T late otherwise, will return to Buick as happiness garrison), it's started on a Worker, since it can't quite start growing and doesn't have the production for much else. You can never have enough Workers.

I haven't Graphed in a while. Let us Graph. Graph-ity graph.

Score:

GNP:

(Our precarious drop is due to a combination of 100% Gold and the whips)

Production:

(I love this graph for some reason. I think it is because BoldXenuBrick's line makes me think "world's gnarliest rollercoaster")

Crop Yield:

(Surprisingly clustered)

Power:

(WilliamLP's power is a bit scary...but we ARE going to be building Monarchy garrison soon, so in all probability our power will look good enough, and we'll have enough units, to stave off an invasion, given I believe that he lacks Construction)

Told you the food would fall...but we'll be picking it back up again real soon.

you're going to need more than 3 religions to pull of a culture victory. at least 5, probably 6 is better.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

I thought rule of thumb was that the minimum was 3?

the minimum is 0 - you can try a culture victory with just libraries and theatres in your cities if you want. Its just going to take a really long time lol. I'm saying you will need 5-6 if you want to be successful with a culture victory.

you could try it with 3, it would just take a painful long time. imo.

Walton finishes it's Settler and puts it's small amounts of overflow into a Scout, which it will finish. Vanderbilt finished it's Hindu Missionary and will finish another one in 3T: I decided to send the first towards John Dodge instead of Standard Oil because John Dodge will hit it's happy cap before Standard Oil, so it needs the religion first.

The Settler should be leaving on the boat next turn, which will let us send it off to our sleepy sheepy location and found a fluffy and fantastic town. Chevrolet has it's pigs pastured now. The road network is also now done and Vanderbilt's borders expanded: Walton's will next turn. Vanderbilt and Walton also both grow next turn, which will give us a tidy +5 commerce from cottages.

Hmmm. I see. I was thinking that considering we could pump out an amazing amount of Great Artists from our capital, it might not.

Do the other Lurkers have any opinion? Is 3 too little for a fast cultural victory?

We met Retep, builder of the Great Lighthouse. He has been using it to good efficiency, it seems: He has 10 cities! By comparison, the highest of anyone we have met is 7, which ties with us. Hopefully, all those cities are under-Workered, especially since Retep is NOT Expansive.

Our Axe/Settler combo is heading towards sheepsville, I'm thinking Vanderbilt might just skip the Lighthouse and go hogwild building Missionaries instead. Workers building stuff everywhere: Vanderbilt gets another cottage, Walton is getting a mine, John Dodge is having it's Wheat farm going and so on. Growth is coming along well: Vanderbilt grows in 3T, Walton grows in 2T, John Dodge grows EOT. It is entirely probable we'll see some growing into unhappiness as we prepare to boost to Monarchy: Which could mean some city pumping out a military (Standard Oil, maybe?) to spread around.

You can do it with 2 religions pretty fast if you decide to commit to it in the next 30ish turns, but assuming lot of risks.

You will need 18 temples for the 6 cathedrals and research up to music, drama and Code of Laws. Once you get there just make cottage heaven in your lands and put the slider into culture. Use the extra happiness for artist specialists and more cottages.

Sistine chapel won't hurt you either.

Of course you will be very vulnerable to enemy attacks, as you will fall behind in research.

It's a big gamble but I think is doable.
