It's been quiet as of late for me. That's never a good sign! So I've been trying to analyze those few mails I've got and piece things together. First off I feared India was planning to attack myself, and then Ottomans, right when the conflict between Ottomans/Rome and Incas breaks loose. However, India prolonged their NAP with me by 10 turns and also Ottomans' for 20. That is now unlikely. The other possible source of attack against me could be Korea with help of Indian intel, since months ago I chose Rome over Korea. I'd say that's not likely atm.
What I do think is going on has two scenarios.
1) Ottomans/Rome are going to attack Incas, who already KNOW about the attack, and who might even have allies to help them.
2) Mali/India are going to attack HRE, who would be in trouble considering Rome/Ottomans would be busy with Inca and I'm weak.
I first heard about Ottomans and Rome's attack right after we ended the war against India. After that it was a long time of silence on that end. For a while I was even a bit suspicious if I was being shut off the alliance, and that's still possible but I think they just didn't think I want to know or need to know. Now the Inca bit.. I received an email from India, in which they mentioned (accidentally?) two things: India has allies and they know something will happen at turn 150. Already faraway in the past I had warned my allies about a counter-alliance, and now we have confirmation of that, atleast in some form. Turn 150 didn't mean much to me when I received that email, so I sent two emails out. One two Ottomans, asking if they were planning to attack Inca at turn 150: Yes they were.
Now here comes in the Mali/India attack. Soon after, HRE sends a message to CoW (or should we call it Mediterranean Alliance nowadays?) that Mali has decided not to "prolongue their NAP", which I interpreted as that Mali is going to attack HRE. The second email I sent, mentioned earlier, was to HRE to ask at what turn their NAP expires. If it's turn 150, then this might be what India is waiting for.. and I think they'll join in the attack because Mali doesn't have the power to challenge HRE alone. Also, judging by India not wanting to discuss a longer NAP between us, I think India perhaps either hasn't decided will they actually help Mali or not, or if they want to see my reaction once they attack HRE (if I side with my old allies or join them). I could be a good meat shield against Ottomans.
I think atm scenario 2) sounds more likely, because I can't figure out how would India know that Ottomans/Rome will attack at turn 150. In second scenario, they would have to know that Mali's NAP with HRE ends at turn 150 (if it does). However, the war between Ottomans/Rome and Incas will still happen I believe, just that Incas might not know about it. Though Incas might still be allied with India.. I'd be surprised if they still weren't!
Here's the important one. Hopefully I didn't over-analyze things, that could definately be a possibility. Still, atleast something I speculated must be correct and that's better than knowing nothing at all.
Quote:Dear Jowy,
A 40-turn extension to our NAP is a little much, I'm afraid! We'd like to
wait and see what happens when Turn 150 arrives before signing any more
longterm deals. There's a lot of diplomatic chatter going on at the moment,
and we need to sort things out before we can make an extended commitment to
any one side. If we can clear things with our allies, then we'll look into
extending that NAP for a longer period, and move onto Open Borders as the
next step past that. It never hurts to have more trading partners!
Cheers,
Sullla
