Can you confirm that Blur takes effect before shields are applied?

Yes, it's Blur, shields, invulnerability in that order.

They were dwarf swordsmen, level 1 so 4 shields, plus 3 for large shield.
I do think they were level 0 bowman.. No, I think they had 2 melee. Maybe some were leve l 1.
I'm not really worried, just figured I'd check. I don't think it would have changed much. Maybe killed a figure or 2 from one swordsmen.

I think I've asked before, but I'll check again - my opponent has spellward.
I have 4 life books and 1 sorcery book. No other wizards remain in the game. The AI is casting spell ward a fair bit, but he's putting up lots of death and chaos wards.
Is it possible to limit spell ward to what the opposition actually has?

It should be already limited. Except...there is no check for wizards being already eliminated. Is there a lot of Death and Chaos books on wizards who were not allies of this wizard when they were defeated?
If it's not that, then it can be that they already have all the Life wards up so they have no meaningful choice left when targeting the spell.

Yup 2 very heavy death wizards, one with a chunk of chaos to support. As I said, the myrran wizard never met any of the other wizards so no treaties at all.
By number of books (including mine, not including the myrran wizard himself) it was: 20 death, 9 life, 5 chaos, 4 nature, 5 sorcery.

Totally different note: how do you deal with sorcery cities that have spell ward against any realm you have 2 or more books in, AND flying fortress?

I don't know. That's one of the things that might still be overpowered. Heroes should work, they aren't fantastic, aren't hurt by dispelling and can even support normal units with abilities. But they need to be strong enough to survive without healing...
9 very rare summons should also be enough but you can expect heavy losses.
Or, you can hunt for Sorcery nodes and hope for Sorcery books and Dispelling Wave.

I'm hunting but there's less than 5 nodes left (unknown realm), plus any possible scattered lairs (I know of 2) and 1 tower. Actual chance of getting sorcery books, and flight/dispelling wave/spell lock, is not particularly good.
Other problem is that neither spell ward or flying fortress is that great on its own. Its the specific combination that makes it awesome.

I'll try putting together an amazing hero squad (I should have bought the Valkyries spear, +6 attack, +4 defense, +3 to hit, armor pieecing) but I usually avoid heroes like the plague due to how overpowered they are.
