RBP4 [SPOILERS] - Shaka of Zulu (sunrise089, regoarrarr, and friends)

Lord Parkin sent another chat that I didn't respond to because I was busy watching March Madness (GOOOOOOOO BEARCATS!). So is that a chat then if it's just one person talking?

Quote:lordparkin: Hi again... back
Reading through our chat log earlier, I noticed you asked a question I missed while I was in a hurry before
Luddite's to the east of your scout, but you'll need Open Borders with Mackoti to get through
Mackoti founded a city which blocks off a choke point just after my Warrior got through
Failing that, you can come up through the arm to my south... it starts NE of Nakor and NW of Plako. If you go right up the top then turn west, you'll meet luddite that way
From what I understand, there's no N-S connection directly south of him... he's one of the odd ones out in that respect
Do you have any scouts near Nakor/Plako?
Reply

I'm sure we get a 'Thats what I answered him' post soon wink

lol

Actually I didn't respond. But he did hit me up again this morning and we chatted a bit
Quote:lordparkin: If you have any scouts near Nakor/Plako, I can direct you to one of Luddite's Warriors around that area
regoarrarr: hmm
lordparkin: What is this "March madness" anyway? Heard of it a lot, but never known what it is
regoarrarr: it's a big college basketball tournament
lordparkin: ah, I see
I presume you're in the US, right?
regoarrarr: yes
lordparkin: ok, cool
Is luddite the last civ you have to meet?
regoarrarr: yes
so where is plako / nakor
lordparkin: We have 3 to go, apparently we'll meet all three fairly soon though
It's a race to see who can spam in the UN thread the fastest :P
regoarrarr: heh
lordparkin: Plako/Nakor are south of me
regoarrarr: so i know if i go south of me
there is a connection to warriorknight
lordparkin: Not sure if you already worked it out or heard it from anyone else, but the layout of civs on this map is as follows:
--- SleepingMoogle --- Mackoti --- Luddite --- Lord Parkin ------ Sunrise -------
--------- Adlain ------------ Locke ------ Nakor ------- Plako ------ WarriorKnight ---
Darn, that doesn't display too well in the window
regoarrarr: right i think i knew that
lordparkin: Ok
regoarrarr: brb
lordparkin: So south of you is a connection to WarriorKnight, and he's obviously next door to plako, and then there's another connection all the way up the map from just west of plako up to me
Sent at 09:55 on Friday
lordparkin: Just got graphs on Plako this turn, by the way - not sure if you had them already. Scary lead in all the demographics, especially food and production
If he continues to build on that, seems he's likely to become a problem... guess we'll have to see.
Sent at 09:59 on Friday
regoarrarr: ok back
yes i'm putting EP on plako right now also
everything looks scary to me as we sit in 9th prod and 10th food ;-)
lordparkin: hehe
price for early GLH I guess
You'll catch up quickly though, especially in GNP
I notice you already have OB with Moogle :P
regoarrarr: yes
lordparkin: But even for us folks near the top in score, plako's still nearly doubling our food and production output
he's certainly got a huge lead on everyone else
regoarrarr: right
count me in for hte "reining him in" party
whenever that gets started
let's 5v1 him ;-)
a la pb2
lordparkin: hehe, would be interesting
Indeed. Although hopefully you guys won't end up like in PB2. wink
regoarrarr: well i think we've already exceeded expectations there
lordparkin: Looks like it's unlikely with the distances anyway
regoarrarr: yeah
so are you in game or can get in game or have access to screenshots?
lordparkin: Heh, yeah
regoarrarr: i was trying to figure out again wher e exactly our border was
lordparkin: Not in game at the moment
regoarrarr: don't you have some good screenshots in your lurker thread? What do you post in there man!?!?!
lordparkin: yeah, I have screenshots, just not of the eastern sea
I don't think it would help anyway, sounds like there's an island of sorts between us so we can't tell for sure how far away we are
regoarrarr: well what i was wondering is how many tiles down from the nrothern border your peak blocker tiles were
lordparkin: Best bet is to wait for one of us to complete a circuit, then we can count tiles relative to Moogle and work it out exactly smile
regoarrarr: are you close at all?
lordparkin: Um... will check...
I'm about a dozen turns away, I guess?
7 tiles from the top of the map
that's where the peak is
how about yours?
Kind of interested to see if we manage to beat plako to 6 cities. Rather doubt it, but it'd be funny if we managed it even just for a turn. :P
regoarrarr: we're goign to settle our 3rd soon!
lordparkin: I have no doubts that he'll outexpand us in the near future... he's got a strong GNP and insane food/production, so surely planning a big settling push soon
Woot! Congrats :D
I'd imagine you want to churn Settlers and Workers for quite a while to come wink
What turn are you set to found #3 on?
regoarrarr: it just flipped to 65 right?
lordparkin: yep
regoarrarr: i haven't played 65?
i think 66
lordparkin: yep
ah, ok
67 is when we're founding #6
regoarrarr: we're revolting to slavery this turn i think
lordparkin: ok
makes sense
So are you working at the moment, or doing stuff around the house?
regoarrarr: work
lordparkin: You keep disappearing for periods :P
ah, ok
on a Saturday?
regoarrarr: it's friday here ;-)
crazy date line
lordparkin: oh right, I'm confused because we had a one-off holiday yesterday, so I think it's Sunday here when it's really Saturday
Friday holidays always get me mixed up
So what kind of work do you do?
regoarrarr: i'm a computer programmer
lordparkin: Myself, I'm a PhD student in physics
regoarrarr: i'm taking a half day off of work today
lordparkin: Cool
regoarrarr: so i have another hour or so before i leave
lordparkin: Ah, right

My favorite part was when he got confused about the date - it's Saturday where he is (New Zealand) and he was confused as to what I was doing at work lol

Also note that he said his peak blocker is 7 tiles from the top of the map. Ours are 10 and 11 from the top - see

We don't know where it is longitudinally because he only knows how far east it is, and we don't have an accurate frame of reference

What else did you expect from your spammer brethren?

We got an email from Locke

Quote:Ok we will move our scout a little north as we go west. There is peak tile 3N of ivory in central jungle. That is where our scout is moving past. We will try to hook up with these teams west and a little north of that.

We think it is possible to get to mackoti lands through central jungle highway. But there are some tiles in fog so maybe peaks there. I think no because you couldnt have got your warrior to where we meet you if there were peaks there. Basically if you go east and then north with Chuck you should reach city we saw.

We are going for Writing soon. Not sure how long it will take to get though. Have to finish current tech first to get ETA.

Stay in touch,
Locke

I played T65 - settler is out and we revolted to Slavery. Montgomery founded next turn. Looks like city #4 will be founded T73, after triple whipping it in the capital.

We do need to get some more workers (and warriors) out

comes in asking for a turn update because the lurker tread has more posts then your tread.

Oh god. A Bearcats fan. First ruling that involves your civ is going against you. Next thing you are going to tell me is that you went to Elder or St. X or something too.

You east or west side?

North side (Cleveland). I came to Cincinnati to go to school a UC.

From Cleveland. Yes, that likely means you are infinitely more reasonable.

That is also how I found myself in Cincinnati (UC Law).

But I had grown up hating the Bearcats, so even that wasn't enough for me.

We finally founded a 3rd city!

The city of Montgomery is going to put one turn into a warrior before swapping to a granary when Pottery comes in at EOT.

I whipped the monument at Reading and it will put the overflow into a granary as well.

Vine is spending this turn growing to size 6 and putting out a warrior. Next turn it will put 1 turn into a settler and then 3-pop whip it the following turn.
